Installation of Exchange 2003 & Outlook 2003 on same server requirement

Am I correct in remembering that it is NOT recommended to install both on the same server? There is a file that is replaced and screws things up I believe.

Has anyone run into a problem like this?

I'm evaluating the product but don't want to install Outlook on the Exchange box if it will cause problems.

I think the issue revolves around MAPI that gets changed when Outlook is installed on an Exchange server. It is best to have the GRO/BEER option installed on an admin workstation system that has Outlook and BESR desktop ed. installed upon.

however i have never had a problem with it, sometimes "needs must". Just make sure you have a BESR image of your server before you install outlook .

IIRC outlook actually gets installed on SBS 2003 servers by default, but i suppose that is because MS have a lot more control over the install process etc.
