PublisherUI.exe and Proxy

Hi.

I have a server that will not publish itself to the managment server.

I have reinstalled the client software and ran (many times!!) PublisherUI.exe.

All I get in the event viewer is " Error E339197C: An error occurred while publishing. System.Net.WebException: The remote server returned an error: (407) Proxy Authentication Required. The remote server returned an error: (407) Proxy Authentication Required.
Details:
Source: Backup Exec System Recovery Management Control "

I have turned off the proxy in IE settings to no avail.
Checked "Bypass proxy for local connections" to no avail

If you enter the web address in a browser it returns the "hello I am an axis service" type response.

its almost as if the PublisherUI.exe ignores the IE proxy settings.

On the ISA the traffic coming from the client server appears as external?

Tried IP and hostname
Ping works
Http or Https fails.

Its driving me insane!

Do you have any clients that can publish to your management server?

Have you tried these steps?

1. Open Internet Options within the Internet Explorer
2. Click the Security tab, click Local intranet, click Sites and
click Advanced.
3. Add the Manager server's name and any server aliases,
including the fully qualified domain name, to the Local intranet zone.
4. Close out of Internet Options
5. Edit the HOSTS file (C:\Windows\System 32\drivers\etc) and
add an entry for the Manager's server IP and name and any aliases,
including the fully qualified domain name
6. Start the Backup Exec System Recovery service
7. Run the PublisherUI.exe again and put the FQDN of the server

Hi Chris,

Yes I have 77 other servers that communicate OK.
I have been going through all the network setting etc comparing the 2.

Let me try the above. I am really sure its IE settings related.
But when it works in a browser it suggests its the publisherUI.exe application.

cheers for the reply.
I will be in touch.

Still nothing.

The strange thing is. If I try to enter the port 443 in the web address publisherUI.exe removes it.

Yet the serves which do communicate have it included.

Strange!

Can you actually get to the download centre from that server?

Try accessing this page from IE:

https>://<ip address or server name of management server>:8443/axis/DownloadCenter

That works fine in a browser.
As I said it's almost as if publisherUI.exe disregards the IE proxy settings.

Are you using ISA server? If so, some customers have needed to open up port 8443 on the ISA server. More info here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/919170.

If that does not help or is not applicable, have you actually done an uninstall/reinstall of the management control itself? You mentioned that you have reinstalled the client software but I was not sure if you were referring to BESR or the management control piece...

Morning.

I reinstalled the Management control last night.
The port we use is 443.

As is fine going through the ISA, as all the other servers work.

The ISA sees it as external traffic which is ridiculous, I dont understand why the server is even going to the ISA when its internal.

How many NICs does this server have?

The following docs may help:

Teamed network cards.

So actually 1 IP.

I have logged a call with Symantec tech support. Spoke to a very helpful chat called Kurt who is looking into it for me.

I have exhausted all my ideas.

Have you tried breaking the team to see if this helps?

Not something I want to do LOL!!

Strange how I can get to the "test" web page when I enter the same URL in a browser window!

I will by all means look at the team config, but I really doubt it.

Thanks for keeping an eye on the thread chris
