Restore to disimilar Hardware - only boots in safemode

Synapse
Not applicable
Hi All

We are testing out the product, and trying to restore an image to disimilar hardware
Steps

1. After succesful image copy has taken place - prompts for storage driver which works in a normal installation - machine reboots into windows to run normal MS HW detect routeen.
2. System hangs on starting windows 2003 - but will however boot in safemode ??
3. In safe mode HD detection runs, and then machine reboots and then fails to come up in normal or safe mode ??
4. Weird thing is using SBS without servicepack one allows you to boot into safe mode (and everything looks fairly peachy), but bluescreens in normal mode
5. After reimaging the machine with SBS SP1 problems as above 1 - 3

Please help, I am sure we are just missing a small tick somewhere or something :)
BTW : intel raid controller SRS SAS 144e in the new machine.

Cheers

Wade

Prior to the system hanging how far along does the windows progress indicator get in normal boot? It souds like a possible network driver issue. Does it just hang in the loading or when it fails are you getting a blue screen or does the system appears to be going into an endless bootloop? One suggestion is to use the -PFD switch when selecting the restore anyware option (i.e. holding down the the CTRL key when checking to invoke the restore anyware option). During the retargeting phase it will prompt you for the intel SAS driver along with the network interface card driver. Find the updated network interface card driver prior to the restore for this target system and provide it when prompted.
