SSR 2011 Desktop – SMTP email alerts issue

Hi all,

I have come across a strange problem on a new installation of Symantec System Recovery 2011, Desktop Edition. The OS is Windows 7 Pro, 64-bit. Other software that is installed and might be relevant is Symantec End Point client.

Problem:  SMTP email notifications are not being sent out, UNLESS the job in question is the weekly full backup.  For daily incremental jobs, it promptly sends out the “Job started ” notification but no email alert when the job is completed. However, for the full backups, email notification is sent out on both job start and job complete status. Incremental jobs start and finish in approximately 5 min while the full backup takes about 45 minutes.

To me, it looks like that for some strange reasons, the program is unable to send out more than one email; within a very short time interval. I know that there is an option in Backup Exec 12.0,  “Notify me a maximum of x times within x minutes”  but of course I have never seen a similar one in SSR.

Am I missing something here?

I don't think so. I'd go for a support call to find out the reason.
