SSR 2011 loses SMTP e-mail notification settings

We have Symantec System Recovery 2011 installed on several test computers and the software is intermittently losing the SMTP e-mail notification settings on each computer. It seems to be holding for a few days at the most, before being wiped. When this happens, all of the fields on the SMTP e-mail setup page are blank-- no settings are held. FYI we're accesing each agent directly, not using the Management Solution.

This issue is new to SSR 2011, we are not experiencing the problem with any BESR 2010 agents.

Is anyone else experiencing this problem? I thought I'd run it by this forum to see if any of you have ideas before we go to Symantec support.

Thanks in advance,

Alex

Someone else reported the same issue on here recently.

Can you confirm what operating system(s) you are seeing this on?

I've been testing this here on Windows XP for the last few weeks and have not seen this problem yet.

We're seeing this problem on both Windows 7 Professional (x86) and Windows Small Business Server 2011 Essentials. I haven't tested on XP so I can't speak to that.

Thanks,

Alex

OK, I'll test this here with Windows 7 then.

Does this happen at any particular stage? Following a reboot/backup/etc..??

I can't say for certain when it happens. We only notice that the settings have been wiped when a backup runs and we fail to get e-mail notifications.

Looks like I have reproduced this here.

It ran the scheduled backup and the SMTP settings were still there. I then did a reboot and the settings are gone.

Can you test this at your end and confirm if it is the reboot the causes this? In the meantime, I will do some more testing at my end.

Thanks for the info Chris. That's pretty bizarre, but at least there's a workaround. Hopefully this will get fixed in the next build.

Thanks again.
