Hello All,
I just installed SSR 2013 on Windows 2008R2.
When I take backup of 10GB file, SSR compresses this file to around 90%, i.e final backup image created is of around 1GB.
As far as I have explored, I couldn't find any configurable option to turn off this compression in case of "Back up Selected files and folders", although it is there in case of "Back up my Computer" (Drive backup).
Is there any way to turn off this compression?

Hi Markus,
Okay.
I am taking backup of a random file (uncompressed), but still SSR is able to compress it to 90%.
In User Guide of SSR, its mentioned that Using "High Compression" Option for backup of Drives, there is 50% average data compression ratio (maximum).
Then how come in my case, data is compressed upto 90%?

Well its just an average - obviously the file can be compressed more.

Okay.
Dont get me wrong but shouldn't there be option in Backup of Files and Folders as well to control the Compression rate?
What if someone doesn't want to compress the backup file?

Okay.
Thank You.
1 more question, what is your observation, end user tend to use which option preferably?
"Backup MyComputer" ( Drive-based backup), or "Backup Selected Files and Folders".
I mean out of these 2, for which one SSR is used more commonly?
