Hi,
Windows 8.1 PRO
SSR 2013 R2 desktop edition 11.1.0.53728
I´m currently testing SSR and found it do not delete old recovery points as it should.
I have 1 backup job defined where I backup my machine as a image every monday, tuesday, wednesday, thurday, friday and set it to limit number of recovery points to 3 with std. compression. New recovery pint set base is set to every 3 month.
But now I have 17 recovery point sets on my backup destination - one full and 16 incremantal - one for each time it has been running (scheduled/manual).
Under manage backup set I tried to enable Automatically optimize storage, and run the backup, but no recovery point set is deleted.
I am doing something wrong here or does recovery point set cleanup not work?
Regards
Robert

No. Let me explain ...
A recovery point set is the FULL plus the associated incremental backups. Your screenshot shows just one set - C_Drive001 - '001' is the set number.
.v2i = full backup, .iv2i = incremental backup
New recovery pint set base is set to every 3 month.
Based on this, your new set (so next full backup) wont start for another 3 months.
Hope this helps.

Thanks.
So if I understand you correct, it will do incremental until 3 months has passed?
limit number of recovery points: Then this setting will keep backups 9 month back if I have limited recovery points to 3 month?
So it is not forever incremental like TSM.
If "Automatically optimize storage" is enabled will SSR automaticly delete oldest recovery points when disk space is full?

So it is not forever incremental like TSM. Again, correct.
If "Automatically optimize storage" is enabled will SSR automaticly delete oldest recovery points when disk space is full? Basically, yes. This may help: http://www.symantec.com/docs/HOWTO83623.
Hope this helps.
