Hi Folks,
I'd like to know if it is possible or even easier to use Symantec System Recovery 2013 to do System State Recovery for my Windows 8.1 laptop into shared network drive in the background every night ?
Because I know that with windows 8.1 the Windows Backup component can also do the workstation backup but in this case I just want to know the comparison with Symantec SSR 2013

Hi John,
SSR is a sector based backup product and it does not backup system state seperately , it directly backups the drives and restores the drives.
However system state cannot be backed seperately.
Thanks

You can, yes. But be aware that as 8.1 is not supported yet (http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH201318) you wont be able to get any official support from Symantec.

Also, Windows 8.1 is not supported YET.
It will be supported when we release SP2 for SSR 2013 - end Feb / early March.

ok, so I can wait until then :)
but in this case I can install the SSR client on the Win 8.1 laptop and then let the backup runs in the background to backup C:\ drive OS component only to shared network drive nightly ?
