SSR & External Hard Drives

Is there an issue with SSR 2013 and either:

1-Seagate Backup Plus external hard drives

or

2-External hard drives of 2 gig or larger

I have recently had difficulty having SSR 2013 desktop recognizing these external drives.

I eventually get them to work but they are not immediately recognized as drives by SSR.

Thanx

Are you talking about using them as a backup source or destination?

Excellent question.  :)  Sorry I missed that originally.

Use as a destination.

Keep in mind though I am talking about my experience with the server version but the 4K sector size is a huge issue.

At least with server edition, if you are talking about 2 TB drives (you mentioned GB I believe in error) and "off-site" drives and they have a 4K sector size, they will never work as off-site drives if you expect them to SYNC immediately when you attach them. This is a known bug ( I actually found it):

I then used 1.5 TB drives (512 sector size) and it kinda works, but not consistently. And now I am being told by Symantec with my new problem (both drives wont sync) that if expect to have a set of two off-site drives, the immeiate sync will only work to the first set.

OK, this should work fine.

There are some limitations with 4kb sector drives but they can be used as backup destinations:
