Smart Sector vs Deduplication Technology

I am looking for the best explanation, idea, thoughts etc. of the difference between the Smart Sector and Deduplication Technology. Can you share with me?

SmartSector within System Recovery just backs up the used sectors on disk.

Deduplication is done at the file level. It ensure that only the 'changes' of a file are backed up, copied etc.
