I recently upgraded to BESR 2010. After installing the new version, I show in my logs that the Symantec SymSnap service runs every two hours.
I only do the backups, once, at night and don't understand why this needs to use the VSS snapshot service every two hours.
Is there any way to set this interval at a longer time period?

I opened a case with Symantec Support and they just said... that's what it does?
But why? Can anybody explain this behavior?

Please check in the Event viewer to check if there is any application which is triggering a start signal to the SymSnap service.
Thanks,

It's the BESR that is causing this to start. The event log right after this service starts is:
Info 67B70199: Volume \\?\Volume{f3855f1c-6816-11dd-abff-806e6f6e6963}\ supported for SnapShot.
Details:
Source: Symantec SymSnap VSS Software Provider
Then the service stops...
any idea?

SO.... nobody at Symantec knows why this happens? Why does this have to run every two hours.
I put this on another server (BESR 2010) and it happens on that server also. Anybody know why the backup service that takes a snapshot needs to run every two hours?
