Dear all,
I am getting the error below (please see screenshot) when trying to recover a PC from a .vhd file.
Here are the steps I performed:
1 - Created a restore point from a server running Windows 2003 Standard (32bit) – succeed;
2 – Performed a “One Time Virtual Conversion” of the same restore point – succeed;
3 – Copied the .VHD file from the conversion above to a another server (different hardware) running Hyper-V on Windows 2008R2;
4 – Created a new VM on the hyperV console with a new HDD;
5 – Boot the new VM using Symantec System Recovery 2011 and tried to Recover My Computer using the .VHD file created on step 2:
6 – The process starts but at the very last second throw up the following error (please see screenshot attached)
Error EBAB03EE: Operating System API
[RegistryOperations::LoadHive] RegLoadKeyW{Y:\WINDOWS\System32\Config\System, TARGET_HIVE_SYSTEM} failed.
Error 00000000570: The File or directory is corrupted and unreadable.
Could you please send me some guidance on how to troubleshoot this issue?
The main idea is to convert a Physical old server into a VM on Hyper-V
Thanks for your help.

Step 5 above isn't necessary.
To convert a physical server to a Hyper-V VM, you can do one of the following:
1. Convert recovery point to VHD format and add that to a VM in Hyper-V
2. Create VM in Hyper-V and boot the VM from the SRD. Then restore the recovery point in the same way you would with a physical machine
Hope that helps.
