Symantec System Recovery 2013 R2

Angry_Coke

Hello,

Does anyone know if the current System Recovery which is being offered will open a backup set from Symantec System Recovery 2013 R2? Here is my situation, we are being sued and to help with the case, I need to view a backup set from 2017 and try to find something. Now, since the MSP is no longer in business, I don't have access to the software to view the backup set. I have searched all over archive files for any installer and I can't find anything. What options (if any) do I have to view the backup set?

Hopefully, someone will be able to provide me some useful information. I tried customer care and that was useless.

Thank you.

James

The version histories are as follows.

VSR 21
VSR 18
VSR 16
SSR 2013 R2 <- your recovery points
SSR 2013

In addition, Software Compatibility Lists for VSR 18 and VSR 21 are as follows.

<Page 54 End-of-Life Information for VSR 18>
https://www.veritas.com/content/support/en_US/doc/VSR_18_SCL
End-of-Life Information : System Recovery 2011, 2013

End-of-Life Information : System Recovery 2013 R2

That is, the SCLs say like bolow.
VSR 18 does not support to restore the recovery points for System Recovery 2013 or 2011.
VSR 21 does not support to restore the recovery points for System Recovery 2013 R2.

As the results, VSR 18 officially supports to view and restore the recovery points for System Recovery 2013 R2, 16 and 18.

However, if ignoring our support versions and you only view recovery points, you will be able to unofficially view the recovery points for System Recovery 2013 R2 on even VSR 21.

Starting from Veritas System Recovery 18, the backup set from Symantec System Recovery 2013 (All Service Packs) are no longer supported for restores as mentioned in the Software Compatibility List of the same - https://www.veritas.com/content/support/en_US/doc/VSR_18_SCL

However, you should be able to view the backup sets if you use Veritas System Recovery 16.

Regards.
