Hello Support,
One more query for your help.
Has anyone used SSR 2013 on a Synology NAS device?
I noticed that the SSR does not remove the old backups and this fills up the storage.
I have to manually delete the old backups to create space for new backups.
What can i do to resolve this?
I greatly appreciate all the help from the forum.

Can you provide a little more detail please...
How many recovery point sets are you retaining? How much space do you have on the NAS?
Can you provide a directory listing (dir >c:\dir.txt) from the backup desination folder on the NAS?

Hi Chris,
The storage device is 2TB
I am retaining 2 recovery point sets for the Exchange, and Domain controllers.
The recovery point sets keep increasing and do not get overwritten.
I am currently away from the server location.
I will check the directory on the NAS and get back to u later.

Sorry Chris,
How do i get the dir>c:\dir.txt ?

Go to the command prompt (CMD), change into the directory that holds the backup destination data, then run the above command. This will pipe the output to a text file (dir.txt).

Ok Chris,
Will try that and get back to you. Still away from the location.
Thank you.

We're using Synology NAS's with 2013 R2 with no issues. We're using domain rights to backup to shares on the NAS.

Hi Chris,
I was unable to get the dir. it says: CMD does not support UNC paths as current directories.

hi sfuller 2,
Do you have to manually delete old backups from teh device?
I am also using domain accounts to do backups to the device, but they get filled up and i have to manually purge them.

What is the exact command you are using?
01-27-2015 04:07 AM
changed to C:\>cd \\16.10.x.x\extstor ad_ssr

You should first map a drive to the directory. Then change into it and run the dir command.

The directory listing you provided shows 2 backup sets - 008 and 009. This appears correct according to your comments earlier.
Are the full backups (v2i file extension) correct according to the schedule you are using?
Am I missing something here...??

I have 2 backup sets alright. But when the next base is to run, it does not remove the old sets. i have to manually delete to create space.
In the manage destination i already selected Automatically optimize disk storage.
i believe when i set a threshold of 500GB for instance, it should delete the old backup and start another base when it is about to exceed the threshold.
Rather than the manual deletion.
The recovery points just stops altogether and i hv missed backup notifications whenever i login to the server.

When was the last time this happened?
