Typical load times for GRO and Exchange?

When I try to do a restore of an Exchange item it is taking 45 minutes or more to load the items. Our information store is not as big as it could be and I can't imagine using this on a truly large systems.

Mounting Volume Images goes quickly... then it sits on Preparing Storage Group seeminling endlessly.  I have no idea how long it stays on Opening Message Store as I've never watched it, I go away and come back after an hour to restore a single email.

Is this what everyone else is seeing, is this normal?

I may have spoke too soon... it's been over an hour now, still on Preparing Storage Group.

Are the recovery point images accessible locally to the GRO console or through a network share?

They are local, running on the console (central manager) system.

Are there any other applications that run on that server?

How much memory is free?

It also may depend on the size of the images in question and the fragmentation of the system that they were taken from.
