Unable to stop vprosvc service on win2k system

We are running 8.5 on a Win2K system that also has BE 8.6 and SAV 10. When I have run into a problem with BESR 8.5 a simple restart of the vprosvc fixes things. If I try to restart it and it won't restart I kill the process. On this server though I get access denied when trying to kill the process.

Any idea why??

Try using sysinternals tool pskill to kill this process. A reboot would help though. Here's where you can get this tool:
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb896683.aspx

Make sure not to do it while any backup is running or BESR is working on something.

Please mark it a solution, if this is useful.
Thanks

Hi

I am also unable to stop this service, tried using taskkill pskill and various options even launching the pskill command under the nt authority\system user and still get access denied

In services.msc the service is shown as stopping.

thanks & regards,
