Hi all,
I'm having an situation and I need to know if the product Symantec System Recovery Management Suite 2011 can be used.
I have a server with SSR MS deployed that manage some computers on the LAN network.
I would like to know if SSR MS can manage computers on external locations without VPN, just using the internet link or I need to deploy and configure the SSR 2011 on each external computer separately without the SSR MS management.
The external destination going to be a FTP server.
Thanks in advance.

Putting the backups on an external destination via ftp should be no problem.
To manage the backup clients using the SSR MS you need the following ports:
http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=DOC1892
To mange the backup clients using the SSR Management console you need this ports:
http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH54862

Thanks Markus!
The questions are:
1) The external computers will comunicate normally if I just insert an entry on "hosts file" at "C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc"?
2) The external computer will need a valid IP to SSR MS find him?
Thanks!

Yep, the name of the SSR MS resp. the external computer must be resolvable either using DNS or the hosts file and yes if you want to communicate over the internet without vpn you need a vaild official internet ip.
