I have not had a tray icon in my Veritas Backup and Recovery desktop on windows 10 for a while but ignored it.
I restarted the computer today and backup and recovery started at bootup.
Hmmmmm...I poled around and this article (I know for an old version but makes sense) said to look at VProTray.exe
https://www.veritas.com/support/en_US/article.100002768
Now before I created the task I just clicked on the exe and instead of giving me a notificaiton icon, sure enough it started the program. Is VProTray broken? Or is something else going on.
Thanks,
BJB

Do you have "Show Tray Icon" enabled in the application options?

Yes I do. It has been checked for a long time, but no icon. I clicked it on and off and on for fun.
No joy.

Hm, maybe fixinstall.bat can do the trick?!

Thanks! This worked. Changing this setting, AND then running the VProTray program got my tray icon back.
More specifically, before I changed that numnber in the .ini file, clicking VproTray just started the program. After changing the number in the .ini file, it correctly started the tray icon. Hopefully it survives sleeping and bootups but is there for first time since my last update.
Makes restarting missed backups much easier!
