So I install the trial version, then what magic do I need to do to activate as a registered/licensed user so it lasts past the 60 days? If I recall in the past I went to the symantec my account site, and downloaded from there after providing a serial number. I don't want to get into an activation issue as I have a few PC's to update. Neither Symantec nor Veritas sell licenses.
I got a link from Veritas support with resellers but I couldn't find one that sells the licence that I want: for System Recovery Desktop Edition.

I contacted all partners it offers in their partner search link. None of these companies answered.
I just purchased Acronis True Image, I'll test it and if ok then farewell to SYMANTEC VERITAS.
I have never seen a company treated their customers this way. Especially when we wrote them, he has not answered after several reminders.

You are probably seeing that message because your version of SSR is 2013 (11.0.x) and not 2013 R2 (11.1.x) - Windows 10 support is only included with 2013 R2 (SP4).
You are going to need to upgrade to 2013 R2.
I have been using SSR 2013 R2 Desktop with Windows 8.1, and I plan to install Windows 10 in July.
Is there any benefit to installing SP4 now versus in June?
Also, is it best to install SP4 before or after installing Windows 10?

The following problem is on a Windows 10 Pro x-64 system running SSR 2013 R2 v220.127.116.11331...
When trying to generate a new Recovery Disk for my Windows 10 system, I am still getting the following message:
"You are not creating the Symantec System Recovery Disk on the latest operating system (Windows 10) that is supported by the product. You can use this recovery disk to restore only Windows 8.1/2012 R2 Server and earlier."
The Recovery Matrix in the help section shows that the Typical Recovery Disk can restore Windows 10 from a Windows 10 host machine, which is what I have. Yet the above message is stopping me.
I know this is a known problem (I remember reading about it late last year in this thread), so is there any idea when a fix will be forthcoming? I have 3 different machines running this software and need a solution.
I'm not sure if this is the correct forum or not. I apologize if it is not. Has anyone found a way to purchase new licenses for SSR 2013 R2? My evaluation ran out and I need to upgrade my ghost installations and SSR's R1 to the latest version that is supported on Windows 10. Seems by now we should be able to purchase a license for the Desktop version like we were able to do through Symantec without having to go through a VAR.
I did a google to see what would come up as the veritas website recommends you buy via a specialized partner - completely forgetting that System Recovery Desktop Edition is for Desktop PC users - Corporate AND individual.
At least previously you could buy the license directly from the company who produced it.

Meanwhile I am about to try and re-establish an expired maintenance license and renew another prior to its expiry. Veritas sent me its first renewal message today - never reminded about the Service Contract that expired on Mar 1st this year though. Reading the fine print there are penalty amounts 25% of the missed amount. Seeing as I was planning on a 2 year renewal for maintenance and that they have been in transition from Symantec to Veritas - perhaps they may not impose the penalty when the reneal never occurred due to their failure to send advance notice as expected.
I am going to try renewing through Veritas AU - for each Service Contract you need the Service Contract number, the IB Instance and then have to ring up and try to speak to someone. Painful. I don't understand why online renewals cannot be allowed for users with only a few Desktops. I guess it is a case of us being lumped in with Corporate users with mega-multiple desktops.
The alternative to renewing - especially if the cost is identical to the initial purchase would be to just buy a new license and be done with it. Let each version expire after a year and don't bother renewing.
It is almost as if they are trying to make it as difficult as possible for solitary desktop users so that they will go away and buy a different product.
Microsoft in all its splendor and glory took it upon themselves to update my Windows7 operating system to Window10. Not happy about that. It has taken me hours to try and straighten this mess out.

I have a recovery CD that had worked in the past to recover Window7 but when I attempted to boot from that CD, it was not bootable. Bad news Charlie Brown. I wanted to just simply restore my system from an external drive where my backups are kept. Didn’t happen.
I am resigned to struggle through the bugs of a new operating system. Naturally, my support ran out about 6 months ago and when I called Veritas I bounced around from phone number to phone number finally being told that I had to purchase a new version of System Recovery from a reseller. So, I phoned and was told a new copy was in the $563.99 which is outrageous.
I am running into all the problems experienced by others but I did read where there was a free patch but I couldn’t find where that patch is located. Can you provide the location and the necessary documentation to install the patch? I just hope I can find my way back to this form when an answer is provided.
