downloaded Upgrade for BESR 8.0x how do I...

(I didn't want to hijack another similar thread so I started my own);

here's the problem,

I received notification of upgrade to BESR 8.0x

so I download the upgrades

both the BESR 8.0x product zip file and the SRD zip file

now I go to request license info but cannot obtain an .SLF file

I read in another thread that 8.0x & up doesn't use .SLF files

anymore, but to use the key on the CD case

there was no CD case I got the download.

so for the past eight months I haven't been able to even attempt to use it

because I'm not even attempting to install it without a guaranteed key.

 don't need a botched install rendering my current version useless.

what or where am I supposed to get this license key?

THX

Use the serial number (the one that begins with the M) to register your product. You should be able to retrieve your key once you register.

I would recommend contacting the Enterprise Customer Care Team at 800-721-3934 option #2 or 3 depending on the product for North America during the hours of 5am to 5pm PST, Monday-Friday.

They can assist with trying to find your licenses. They will need more information than just your activation keys as they are generic and cannot be exlucsively searched by so to speak, we would need additional information such as:

Company name and address {and possible variations} Sales Order Number Certificate Number Serial Numbers {Begin with an "B" or "M" followed by 10 numbers} Support Identifier RTSM ID number {these were printed prominently on the certificates that were issued by Veritas if you do not have any Symantec Certificates}

not exactly sure what these certificates are?

I have no paper work except the bill from the PC shop that built the machine;

 and a burned disk containing the BESR 6.5 SRD & install set.

and then I received notice of upgrade to V7.0

which took me about 6 months to figure out how to get it from file connect

because the the instructions from the PC shop weren't exactly clear on how

to log in with the info that was already set up.

shortly after that I received the notification of upgrade to V8.0x

went to file connect and downloaded it.

attempted to aquire an .SLF for it

because there was no indication in any of the online documentation

nor in the notification of upgrade email that .SLF files were obsolete

and registration codes alone were now being used.

When you mentioned that you received an upgrade notification, did you receive a notification id number in the following format: BESR8-xxxxxxx-N-xxxxxx   ?

If so, then on the email or document, you should have also seen a number referenced as a Customer Number/Reference number or an Order Number?

I have two email notifications (both from "upgradecenter@symantec.com")

the first one had the wrong product in it (saying that BESR 12 was now available)

and the second with the correction to v8

both contain the same info otherwise:

Customer Number: ########

Notification ID: BESR8WIN-########-N-#######

...

The serial number you will need to gain access to your software within FileConnect is: M##########

...
