I have a backup external drive from 2010 that contains files I would like to restore.   It has a copy of Symantec backup on it, but I cannot install it as I get a message the program does not like Windows 7.   The backup files have an extension V2i.  How do I recover the files?

These files are produced by Symantec System Recovery, not Backup Exec.  I have moved your discussion to the correct forum.

It could be that the version of your program does not support Windows 7.  You may need to try WinXP.

You could probably install the latest version (trial) and use that to restore:
