I bought Backup Exec System Recovery 8 starter kit.
I installed it on all my servers... it's working fine so far, except for one server... vprocsvc is crashing during the backup process and the besr service is restarted automatically when this append.

- Uninstalled disk maintenance utilities like Perfect Disk or Diskeeper or other backup software (except for BEWS) is remove; be sure that any filter drivers they may have has also been removed.

 - Use partinfo from within the \Program Files\Symantec\Backup Exec System Recovery\Utility to verify they are no partition errors to contend with.

- Check \Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\Licenses to be sure no previous license file (i.e. *.SLF) exists for an older version.

 - Be sure that Microsoft® Windows® Script is version 5.6x or newer is installed before attempting the reinstall of BESR.

- Uninstall BESR thru Add/Remove Programs

- Run the uninstall tool: http://support.veritas.com/docs/297950 (obtain the uninstall tool if you have previous versions install)

- When the tool finishes, look under \Program Files for any remnants of Backup Exec System Recovery files or folders. If they exist, delete them.

 - Made sure the vpromonitor.sys, Vproeventmonitor, v2imount.sys and symsnap.sys were deleted from the Windows System32 folder.

 - Ran Microsoft MSI cleanup utility; check for any LiveState or Backup Exec system recovery entries.

- Reboot

- Run MSCONFIG. Go to tech Services tab. Click "Hide All Microsoft Services" followed by "Disable ALL". Apply, OK and reboot. THIS brings up the machine in a "clean boot" mode,

- Run the install for BESR and .NET 2.0 again and reboot afterward.

- Run MSCONFIG and on the General tab, click "Normal Startup" OK, then reboot.

- See if then you get the C++ error again.

I did not try to do all this...
before reading your message, I already tried to uninstalled and reinstall with the installation cd instead of using the easyinstaller package downloaded from my "main" server...

with this new installation, I do not get any crash... but after some time, I get this error :

Date: 17/04/2008 9:56:59 AM
Notification Type: Error
Priority: High
Description: Error EC8F17B7: Cannot create recovery points for job: backup complet SERVERNAME. Error E7D1001F: Unable to write to file. Error EBAB03F1: An unexpected network error occurred.
Details: 0xE7D1001F

what does this mean?

for my last post, I forgot something...
I installed only the program, without the management control...

by the way, if I store my backup on an external usb drive on this same server, it works fine... I don't have any errors.

I resolved my issue by doing what is discribed in this KB :
http://support.microsoft.com/?scid=kb%3Ben-us%3B304101&x=7&y=10

works fine so far... not a single error...
