I’m the new kid on the block, joining Veritas as VP, Northern Europe in July 2016. I’m looking to ensure that Veritas creates real value for our customers. In my first blog I share my experiences from the past six months of being in this role.
We all hear so much about digital; data growth explosions and of course the daunting task of getting to grips with unstructured data. How does this manifest itself in today’s world?
Since joining I’ve made it my business to take time getting to know our customers, making sure Veritas properly understands the unprecedented change taking place, in their organisations and of course how we can help. I’ve met many people, including a number of high profile CIOs, and in early December it was great to talk with many customers and partners at our first UK Vision event.
Hearing about the future from analysts at the ‘Gartner Data Center Infrastructure & Operations Management Summit’ in London I got a real sense of excitement – especially when Veritas was voted as the strategic backup vendor of choice by the attendees during the event.
All this has given me a clear insight into what’s challenging our customers. I’ve seen tangible patterns emerging; a number of very real challenges alongside opportunities for Veritas to help customers create tangible value.
There’s a new hunger to achieve business agility and deliver a more efficient response to the needs of the organisation and service users and thus create enhanced value throughout the organisation. Achieving uninterrupted protection 24x7x365 is seen as a daunting task, up there with the burden of compliance to ever increasing data regulatory requirements and I’m also seeing the desire to make hybrid cloud work - as customers appreciate its value overtaking perceived risks.
Yes, this era of unprecedented change as many organisations are approaching or going through complete digital rethink, but the ultimate goal must be to maximise business value; paradoxically both the challenge and opportunity of transformation.
