We’ve an exceptional selection of engineers at Veritas, though there are some among the whole whose engineering prowess is exemplary; in celebration of #EWeek2018, we’d like to highlight six Veritas engineers who have helped to drive the success of our offerings and lend to the overarching sense of community that is a special part of working for Veritas. Today’s #EWeek2018 Veritas engineer: Ryan Lefevre.

Ryan architected the API driven design of CloudPoint 2.0 to deliver a lightweight Cloud Data Protection solution that enabled faster support for Cloud Native applications and Snapshot providers on premise with a plug-in based architecture. The agent-less implementation reduces the complexity of deployment in Cloud and delivers lower TCO to customers. The design enabled CloudPoint to be delivered on three public clouds in the 1.0 release itself and add support for new workloads such as AWS RDS in 2.0.

When asked to define his role as an engineer at Veritas… I am the Veritas CloudPoint architect, overseeing the product's overall design and implementation.

When asked what inspires him most as an engineer… I'm inspired by the abundance of powerful programming languages, frameworks, tools, etc. available these days. I particularly love diving deep into the unique features of a programming language, both to better understand how the language is built internally and to help think of new techniques for solving future problems.

When asked what he would choose if he could have a single engineering superpower… I'd love to have the ability to instantly design a beautiful abstraction layer that somehow satisfies all current and future requirements while still presenting a simple, intuitive interface, reducing the infinite complexities of the real world into a single, easy to follow model. This superpower would allow for massive improvements in development scalability, testability, and maintainability.

Please join us at #VeritasTechnologies in celebrating the engineers in your life, during #EWeek2018!
