Today’s #EWeek2018 Veritas engineer: Sushil Patil.
In Veritas Cloud Storage, Sushil architected the unique implementation of a distributed Object Storage using Erlang and Riak core to deliver a differentiated product that enables IoT, video streaming, classification and analytics – use cases of high customer value. His design distinguishes Veritas Cloud Storage, as it is rich in features, such as geo-distributed global name space, storage optimization, encryption and compression, and also lays a strong foundation for CloudPoint 3.0 wherein the tight integration with Veritas Cloud Storage gives CloudPoint de-duplication an advantage of performance and scale over competition.
When asked to define his role as an engineer at Veritas… I’m an architect of Veritas Cloud Storage, owning the technical vision and developing innovative, scalable and quality solutions for complex and unique problems.
When asked what inspires him most as an engineer… I draw my inspiration from software engineering as I use it every day for solving logical puzzles, developing solutions, optimizing and watching deployment to production to make the world a better place in some way.
When asked what he would choose if he could have a single engineering superpower… The ability to “divide by zero.” I see many engineers struggling with this problem and crashing their programs. I want to solve it, once and for all.
