Clearwell Scalability

We have 90+Terabytes of archived email in our Veritas Enterprise Vault. We are looking to use Clearwell to perform eDiscovery on this large dataset.  Does anyone utilize Clearwell tool to perform eDiscovery on a similar size and against lots of small files.?

Hello @JeffLobb,

I don't believe that there's a metric per se to gauge the difference between collecting from 90TBs or smaller files.  With any type of collection, it's just going take more time to run against 90TB of data.  The question can be answered better though the use of targeted collections in your eDiscovery workflow.

With EV Collections in Clearwell you have a number of options, e.g. keywords, date range, traits, custodians, etc. to help you create targeted collections. The available options allow you to create precise queries against even large EV archives which in the end can produce highly effective results.  Even before you actually collect any data, you have the option to run EV Searches which allow you to perform a mock run of an EV Collection. This enables you to have a preview, e.g. similar to EV search in EV, and an analysis of what would be collected. EV Searches allow you to modify the options until you get the results you want and before you collect any data. In addition, EV Data Holds are included which allow you to place a legal hold on any responsive data in EV.

I work with our Veritas business critical customers on a daily basis on leveraging EV Collections in Clearwell and can say that even against larger (and small, too) EV archives, EV Collections has been very successful.

We have received high level anecdotes about "customers" running Clearwell successfully against "large" collections from multiple Veritas associates but no specifics.  Can someone give specific examples of what is meant by "large" collections?   25TB, 50TB, 100T? and how many customers are we talking about that work with large collections ?   1, 3,5,10,25?    How many are doing eDiscovery for legal hold against small files (emails)?
