Thanks guys. How can i be sure that another backup i want to keep is not on these virtual tapes? Once ive deleted them off BE can i then physically delete the tapes from hard drive? Cheers James

Had a chap from sophos confirm that it doesnt change timestamps on files during a scan so it must be the archive bit causing the problem. Ive changed to modified time to test, will see how it goes. Thanks for all your replies,
