Status problem with tape drive - Status is ' In Use '. cannot back up.

Anyone know how to solve this ? It is an Ultrium 2 scsi tape drive and it wont come out of this status so i cant back up. Help would be extremely welcome as apparently even if you buy this product you dont get any kind of support for it. Thanks in ad...
