Also goes to show you can't rely on information from some people. The exchange server is 2007 running on Win2003 R2. Don't know if this makes a difference. Probably not.

Thank you for your comment. Our issues were resolved by upgrading to EV 220.127.116.117. I have not experienced the issue since. I have not had to restart the services either. We only do File System Archiving at this point in time.
