On the SUSE Master server check the /etc/nsswitch.conf file for the "hosts" entry.
I recommend setting it to:
hosts: files dns
Also make sure that the /etc/resolv.conf file has the correct entries for nameresolution.
What exactly are you restoring from?
Is it a database server, an exchange server, a sharepoint farm?
Normal restores are generally done on "flat filesystem" backups where a granular restore is a restore from a backup that was done using an agent.
