How to properly partition storage

we have a 48 slot 2 drive robotic library. by default BE wants to partition using 6 x 8 i cant figure out how to change the partitioning? example. can i have 1 partition of 8 slots. and a second partition of 40 slots? thanks. version: BE 2012 sp2
