Over 30 years IT leadership experience, including CIO roles and non-executive director positions. Principal Analyst for Eduserv, and an Associate Director and Past President of Socitm and current President of BCS, the Chartered Institute for IT. For over a decade was CIO and latterly CDO for Hampshire County Council, leading a range of ground-breaking shared services and achieving national recognition with a range of awards for IT innovation. Set up and chaired the Local Public Service CIO Council and worked with central government on a range of strategic programmes such as open data, ID cards and supplier negotiation. Experience includes large-scale mergers, national and international IT programmes and the start-up and subsequent sale of a tech business. Now operating as an independent consultant, providing expert advice to public and private sectors on digital and IT strategies. He was named as the ‘most influential and innovative CIO’ in the UK in the ‘Silicon 50’ CIO survey and included in the ‘Top 100 CIO’ list since its inception.
