I run 2 jobs at night: one B2D backup first (full - copy) and then a tape backup (incremental - archive bit). The B2D job gives me the error when backing up System State of a specific server, whereas the tape backup job backs it up successfully.

Same error here.It was working fine until last Friday Jan 26 2007. I have Win2003 Std Edition, SP1 and BE 10.0 Rev 5520 SP1, Hot fixes 13 and 15. I am NOT running MS Exchange in this server. The System Event Logs don't show any backup related errors....
