We have a windows 2003 file server cluster(2 nodes) with SAN in a production network setup .
clinet wants its data files to be backedup onto another server in staging environment(targetserver) having enough disk space to hold backup...
we would like to get Backup exec 2010 for one backup exec agent to backup windows 2008 server.
Initiall we need only one agent. what would be cost for this or how shall i calculate this cost ?
we are using veritas to backup oracle dbs's directly,
it's skipping some files as those are in use.
is it possible to purchase open file option agent for backup exec 9.1 and what is cost for same?

I ahd been going through threads advising that if one wants to change OS for backup exec 9.x and in case we dont want to change h/w , moving BE with 9.x from win2k to win2k3 wont work
instead upgrade win2k to win2k3

We didnt have backup of BE server itself, however we willl be able to extract BEDB and catalog folder from backup exec installation directory?
will that be sufficient.

thanks for a quick note, I understand we don't need any other agent or have any complexities involved for backing up data through SAN volumes once both file cluster nodes have agent installed.
We just had been looking around to do the file...
