Not to beat a dead horse, but I would run a cleaning job on it and then if it still fails with the same error on multiple media, then call the manufacturer and replace the drive.
No the errors will cause nothing but annoyance. You can eliminate them but will have to open a case with VRTS/SYMC support to do have them clean up the databases. It can be a time-consuming process. It is up to you.
If you are using an older version of the client then you could see those files being missed. Otherwise there shouldn't be an issue. I back up about 20-30 Windows 2003 servers and have never had an error on any of the OS files.
