How to check why Backup Scan takes many time
Starting from some week, the Weekly Full Backup takes really many time to perform Backup Scan operation. Usually it takes not so much time and I'd like to understand the reason , but I don't know other ways to check except the Symantec Backup Exec console where I see only the status. I am using 11d with all the latest patches on Windows Server 2000 Any suggestions or comments how to check more details ? Thanks, PaoloSolved981Views9likes3CommentsBacking up System State using Backup Exec 11d
Hi, If you are using Windows backup utility to back up 'System State' i understand it always performs a copy backup (Full) no matter what type of backup (incremental, differential) you choose. Is this also true for Back up Exec? Does it ignores the back up type and always performs a Full Backup? Thanks in advance for your replies. I get an error "e0008214 - Library error - source location is empty" running inventory job or backups. Tried also to clean device and mount/dismount tapes, but the result is the same. Any idea or suggestions ? Product: Symantec Backup Exec 11dSolved3.1KViews5likes5CommentsBackup Scan pending
We have a DELL PV132T with LTO3 driver, starting from some weeks ago I have some issue where we need t perform a backup . When the backup job starts , I see the Backup Scan running and the Symantec Backup Exec shows this message and no further actions are performed. The strange thing is that some little backup job is performed, i created for these tests backups for different server and folders and some of these works well.... I have also changed the backup hardware but wihtout positive results. Also I have installed the latest driver pack for 11d (6235), but no changes on this issue... Any ideas or experience about this issue ? ThanksSolved567Views5likes1CommentBackup to Disk
I am using Backup Exec 11D. I am testing out backing up to disk. I ran a backup to disk last night. I see three files after the backup. B2D000001 (type = Windows backup file) Changer.cfg Folder.cfg I plan on backing up to tape the B2D000001 file. I need to do this as the server that has the B2D000001 on disk has only so much room and backing up the B2D000001 file to tape and then removing the B2D000001 from the server sounds like a good plan. Open to suggestions. Two questions: 1. In addition to the B2D000001 file will I also need to backup to tape the Changer.cfg & Folder.cfg files? 2. When doing a restore from the tape that has the B2D000001 file can Backup Exec 11D show me the folders / files on it to do a restore of a file or folders? We recently acquired some assets for another business however the data is corrupt and we were not given the encryption key to Backup Exec 11. We need this data to be restored. Is there any service Symantec provides to be able to restore these tapes? I understand there is no product on the market that can do it without the key but am wondering is we can ship the tapes to Symantec for a fee? Is this at all possible?495Views4likes4CommentsBackupExec v11 open .iv21 file
I have installedBackupExec2013 in a Win7 computer, so I run the back up and got the following files: MINACO2-SCADA.sv2i MINACO2-SCADA_C_Drive002_i001i.v2i MINACO2-SCADA_D_Drive002_i001.iv2i MINACO2-SCADA_System Reserved0-1_Drive002_i001.iv2i Some time after I reinstalled Win7 in the same computer and tried to open the backup files I had but I can´t have my files back but I get the following errors: "Error ED80002A: No se pudo abrir el archivo de punto de recuperacion principal 'C:\Users\...\MINACO2-SCADA_C_Drive002.v2i'. "Error ED800018: No se puede enocontras el punto de recuperación 'C:\Users\...\MINACO2-SCADA_C_drive002.v2i' So I guess is looking for a .v2i file I don´t have. How can I get my info back!??? First off, I do realize this is an outdated version. I am at a clients site and have already requested they purchase 2012. It will be a while before they are able to buy it, so for now I need to try and support this version. My problem is that I do notsee any of the Backup-to-Disk folders as a valid device option when creating/changing jobs. The current jobs all have the Backup-to-Disk Folder selected. I can see the Backup-to-Disk folders under the devices tab, so Backup Exec does recognize the folders as valid Devices, they just do not appear as an option when setting up a job. Does anyone have a solution for this problem?Solved666Views3likes3CommentsMSDE_INSTANCE DBCC error & SBSMONITORING Error
I have two errors currently running a backup-to-disc jobwhich I’m trying to avoid a reinstall of backup exec/sql. There are two jobs that run on this server, one to tape which works fine, another to a nasbox, this is the nasbox job that fails. Error 1 - Backup- SERVER\MSDE_INSTANCE An unknown or unexpected database error occurred while attempting a DBCC. Database 'SBSMonitoring' cannot be opened due to inaccessible files or insufficient memory or disk space. See the SQL Server errorlog for details. Error 2 - Backup- SERVER\SBSMONITORING V-79-57344-33938 - An error occurred on a query to database SBSMonitoring. V-79-57344-33938 - Database 'SBSMonitoring' cannot be opened due to inaccessible files or insufficient memory or disk space. See the SQL Server errorlog for details. I’ve tried restarting services, BEutily to repair databases, re-created folders, re-created jobs but same error every time. FYI The drive had ran out of space, we've since cloned and increased thepartition so there is plenty of space now. I’ve just logged into SQL Exress and ran a DBCC CheckDB, below are the results.
