Where are the Linux logs?
Using BEWS 12 with linux agents on SLES11. Installed the 64 bit agent and started ./VRTSralus.init start, then login to the BEWS and run the backup job for said linux server and there is always a communication error or agent may not be running error. I login to the linux server and start BE agent. The agent never seems to stay running. Where would i find the logs to see what is going on? I looked on the linux server /var/logs/messages, nothing found in reference to BE agent. Are there any issues with the 64 bit agent on SLES11. Oh, btw, it is BEWS12 agent. I started beremote with debug options and tried to browse the linux server using the BEWS, the debug file just cuts off, i never see the error! This server has 2 NICs in it; 1 on the trusted network which is where the BEWS is and 1 on the optional network. A netstat shows beremote bound to 0.0.0.0. Is there a way to bind beremote to 1 ip? And would this even help.Solved793Views16likes2CommentsInterested in usability studies for Backup Exec?

This is not an urgent issue: I have a server running backup exec 12.5. It backs up a lot of stuff for us from a central file server. On my file server's application log (windows 2003), I get Event ID: 1524/1517 every night at 9:15PM. User: BackupService Event ID 1524: Windows cannot unload your classes registry file - it is still in use by other applications or services. The file will be unloaded when it is no longer in use. User: SYSTEM Event ID 1517: Windows saved user FILESERVER\BackupService registry while an application or service was still using the registry during log off. The memory used by the user's registry has not been freed. The registry will be unloaded when it is no longer in use. This is often caused by services running as a user account, try configuring the services to run in either the LocalService or NetworkService account. It seems to me like it may be a bug in coding on either microsoft or symantec's side?? Any pointers? .:edit:. I did read about a program called UPHclean by microsoft which seems to be the answer, but I'd like some feedback first.Solved5KViews8likes6CommentsAOFO: Initialization failure on drive:
Hi Guys, I have been getting problems with my backup since the beggining of last month and everytime we sort one out, like acne, one just seems to pop out again. This time i'm struggling with this one, Advanced Open File Option, Symantec Volume Snapshot provider, goes on to say that AOFO was unable to get quiet time for physical volumes. What's strange is that the backup runs at night from 1am and there's very minimal activity then. What's even more stranger is that i went on to disable the feature and yet it still complains about it,Please help, anyone.1.5KViews8likes10CommentsConnect And Protect: Finding stability with Backup Exec 12.5
