Missed the Serial number Key and source files for Symantec Backup Exec™ System Recovery Manager 8.5
Hi Guys, My organisation is usingSymantec Backup Exec™ System Recovery Manager 8.5 and currently this is running in one of Windows 2003 OS. Unfortunately, I could not find the source media of this software which I require to install this software on Windows 2008 OS. Upon looking into theSymantec Backup Exec™ System Recovery Manager 8.5, I can see the product key but I don't have have software Serial number. I came to know that software Serial number/product ID key can helps to download the media from Symantec. Any one know how I can download the source media files in the absence of Software Serial Number? Or if there is any other way, I can retreive the Serial number from currently installed software ; or I can download this software without serial key/product ID?, thanks2KViews0likes4CommentsRestore from tape after server crash
Hi there, Due to a series of blue screens of death, the contents of my harddisks were corrupted, and I had to rebuild my server. I used a Windows Backup to restore the complete server to the state it was in at the end of July. We use both Windows Backup (harddisk) and Backup Exec 12.5 (tape) to make backups, you can never be too sure, right? My problem is that BE did make full backups on tape, the last one is dated August 14th. But when I enter this tape into the server, BE can only find the last backup dated July 17th, because it's database is older due to the rebuild. How can I restore the contents of this tape, and make BE see that the backup is actually made in August instead of July? Thanks in advance for your answers, Best Regards. Case scenario: A MSExchange server has the BE Exchange agent and SEBR Server Edition installed. Provided that the BEExchange agent already has granular restore support, is it still necessary to get the granular restore option of SEBR? Does the two provide similar functionalities and is just a concern if SEBRwas installed as a standalone product? If not, when do you choose one over the other?Solved385Views0likes1CommentSymantec Backup Exec System Recovery 8.5 + Exchange 2007 + SQL 2000?
Hi. First of all, sorry for my bad english :) I’m trying to configure Symantec Backup Exec System Recovery 8.5 for the first time. We have a Dell PowerEdge 2950 server with Windows 2008 x64 + Exchange 2007 + all latest service packs & updates. When I create a task to backup all the disks of this server in Advanced Options I put a tick on Perform full VSS backup. How exactly should be the Exchange server configured so it would be successfully backed up? Which functions should be enabled & which disabled? These questions arose, because I’m not sure that after the crash, everything will be correctly restored and the exchange storage groups will correctly mount! The backup itself finishes successfully & without errors. I’m ready to send all necessary logs & configuration files. The second question is about the second Dell PowerEdge 2950 server: Windows 2003 R2 SP2 + SQL 2000 + all latest service packs & updates & also with Perform full VSS backup feature enabled. How should I do it correctly? Our restore plan after a server physically goes down is: Instead of bad HDDs we put in the good & empty ones. Boot from Symantec System Recovery bootable cd(is there smth like that, yes?) & mount Symantec images from external hdd. Restore to empty HDDs (is it possible even without raid drivers?) Reboot Start operating system & work as never happened :) Is it possible or everything is much more complicated? Also we bought Backup Exec 12.5. Is it more suitable for our situation? What’s the difference between it & Symantec Backup Exec System Recovery 8.5? And the last one: it's more comfortable for me to talk to support by e-mails. Can you tell me the adress in Russia, as support@symantec.ru doesn't work fro some reason :( Best regards, Valery227Views0likes0Comments
