I ran my first full disk backup today using Veritas SR 16 and the software did not backup the WINRETOOLS partition. The error was "Incremental recovery points are disabled because the *:\WINRETOOLS volume does not have sufficient storage space to perform a VSS snapshot" I did not run into this problem with SR 2103 R2. The error message suggested to create free storage space on the *:\(WINRETOOLS) volume. Does this mean I have to grow the partition?Solved4.4KViews0likes13CommentsDaily Backup of One File (Outlook PST) Yields Two Folders - One With Multiple Files, One Empty?
Hi, First, glad to be here. DEDICATED Ghost user. Carried RIGHT on through to Veritas. Can't beat the reliability, and the intuitive nature of this product. Has savved my bacon on more than one occasion. For the first time ever I'm using the product to backup a SINGLE file each day, my Outlook PST. Can't understand the results I'm seeing. Please can anyone advise? The file itself is big - around 8Gb (I know! I need to archive.) The results I'm getting are: Two Folders - one with four to five files. Another, completely empty. Is this normal? Somehow I was expecting just...a copy of the file itself? And, why is there an empty folder each time? Second thing, the only option I'm given in selecting the created icon in the Staus window when I select the icon on any given date is... "Restore". Questions: is the thinking there that...there are no fileS to "Explore", as it is just a single file? So, my only given option is restore alone? And, with the four or five files in the folder that HAS data...somehow Veritas is going to stich these back together to make my PST should I ever need to restore the file? And, if yes...really? Can that work? Somehow doing the Incremental daily backup of the whole system and having the explore option seems more viable? Or, is it all the same under the hood? Here is what I am trying to do. First I still have the working boot disk (Disk 1) installed. I just want to test and see if I can create a bootable USB drive (Disk 6) to do some testing: 1. Install new blank USB disk (Disk 6 in my drive list) with no partitions one it. 2. Use the SRD to install a full system backup to it. 3. When I go to restore the 4 partitions from my full backup set in the following order a. System Reserved b. System Reserved c. EFI Boot d. Windows OS I can see them fine. When I select the first System Reserved partition, I can edit the settings and place it on the new blank drive with no problems, and I can see that is is correctly going to install on Disk 6. But when I select the next partition and try to select the next unallocated space on the same blank disk, it still says it will restore to Disk 1, not Disk 6. I cannot seem to get any of the other partitions to go to the new disk no mater what I do. Now if I reverse the oder and select the Windows OS partition first, followed by EFI, and so on, I can get them to install, but I am not sure that the system will boot. Any ideas what is wrong, or what I am doing wrong? Gary2.8KViews0likes15CommentsMissing Wizard for LightsOut
Hi, Please could you help me? I'm an educator whose trying to save some funds. I'm still using Veritas 16. It is EOL, but works fine so far. Putting off as long as I can the cost of the upgrade. I'm trying to set up the LightsOut feature. I've done it before. But, somehow, I can't find it in the options. I recall it was kind of buried in another setting. But, I just can't seem to locate it. I even did a full disk search for the phrase LightsOut. Please if any of you are familiar with this reliable older version, can you point me in the right direction? Sincerely, CalSolved2.8KViews0likes10CommentsRestore failed
Hello, I have a particular workstation running Windows 10 with System Recovery 2016 that had been backing up regularly until two months ago. For the past two months, backups have been failing with; Error E4F3000F: Unexpected VSS writer error. Check the application event log for writer specific error. Failed VSS writers: BITS Writer. In earlier versions there seems to have been a hotfix issued for this error. Is there a known fix, of sorts, for VSR 16? Thank You, Dale2.4KViews0likes3CommentsEmail notifications in VSR 16 are very cryptic
Hi - I just upgraded from SSR 2013 R2 to 16. I feel right at home except that the email notifications are a pain. They've gone from simple, readable messages like this: Date: 11/17/2017 1:29:23 AM Notification Type: Info Priority: High Description: Info 6C8F1F7E: A scheduled incremental recovery point of drive F:\ was created successfully. to this: Date: 11/17/2017 4:02:24 AM Notification Type: Info Priority: High Description: Result (0x6c8f1ff2 34 VPRO_INFO_SCHEDULED_BACKUP_INC_JOB Args [1] Arg (0xbab000d 24 Full Backup - All Drives);)<9 1.0-*-*-* > Can they be changed back, or failing that, can I get a glossary somewhere so I can at least figure what the heck it means?Solved2.3KViews0likes9CommentsVSR 16: Service Pack 2 - available now!
