Can't Get USB Recovery Disk to Be Engaged
Hi, Long-time user. Back to Ghost days. Had the issue there, occasionally, too. I've created a recovery disk on USB. I've reset the boot sequence. But, restart with Boot Sequence set to USB, each time the restart bypasses the USB. I've got a LigtsOut Restore. It's visible at start up. But, even still, that USB recovery disk just does not get noticed. Its a new USB, too. Formatted again and re-tried several times. Can't figure it out. What do you think is happening? This is what I see on the disk: Sincerely, Cal2KViews0likes5CommentsMissing Wizard for LightsOut
Hi, Please could you help me? I'm an educator whose trying to save some funds. I'm still using Veritas 16. It is EOL, but works fine so far. Putting off as long as I can the cost of the upgrade. I'm trying to set up the LightsOut feature. I've done it before. But, somehow, I can't find it in the options. I recall it was kind of buried in another setting. But, I just can't seem to locate it. I even did a full disk search for the phrase LightsOut. Please if any of you are familiar with this reliable older version, can you point me in the right direction? Hi, Creating a Lights Out Restore makes it appear at startup. Sort of an alternate universe I could boot into. That's GREAT! Recently upgraded Windows that required a full reinstall. Interestingly, the Lights Out Restore is unaffected by this. It seems to live on its own wee partition of the SSD. Trouble is, not that my Windows is all updated and new...that restore would be a regression. So, how can I scrub / excise that Lights Out Restore from my SSD? So that it is erased, and I can go ahead and create a new one which would be a restore to the NEW, updated system Sincerely, CalSolved1.4KViews0likes2CommentsCan My Recovery Disk Hold Other Files, too?
Hi! Just created my SPIFF recovery disk. Tested it. Works great. Win10 & Lights Out. Seeing as how I use my laptop on the road, didn't seem to make much sense to me to not have the disk itself at-hand. I carry a wee usb on my keychain. Just had to get a new one. Since I had no files on there, I used that keychain USB as the destination for my recovery disk. Now! By-and-large, I've got that USB on the keychain for when I need to grab a document easily. So! My question - having used the drive as the location for the .iso file, is that drive now somehow DEDICATED? So that, I should not use it to occasionally be a destination for the random PDF and what-not that I need to have a temporary home for? Put another way - should I just be safeguarding that drive for the .ISO alone? Or, is it OK to have it ALSO function as a working USB drive? And, if it is NOT safe...what other alternatives to the always-on-handedness feature that I'm looking for do you suggest? Easy enough! ANOTHER wee drive! :D They ARE tiny. But, is there some other clever solution you all have for how to have the recovery disk on-hand in your on-the-road gear? For what it's worth, I also created a lights out restore. Not sure how that affects things. Sincerely, Cal1.1KViews0likes3CommentsHow to Restore Files or Folders That Have Been Encrypted
Hi, After having re-installed Win10 I've been moving my documents back over. I just got an error message: Please can you advise the steps I need to use to mount the .V2i file, and the process to copy the directory? Hopefully there'll be an app. :D Sincerely, Cal772Views0likes1CommentDaily Backup of One File (Outlook PST) Yields Two Folders - One With Multiple Files, One Empty?
Hi, First, glad to be here. DEDICATED Ghost user. Carried RIGHT on through to Veritas. Can't beat the reliability, and the intuitive nature of this product. Has savved my bacon on more than one occasion. For the first time ever I'm using the product to backup a SINGLE file each day, my Outlook PST. Can't understand the results I'm seeing. Please can anyone advise? The file itself is big - around 8Gb (I know! I need to archive.) The results I'm getting are: Two Folders - one with four to five files. Another, completely empty. Is this normal? Somehow I was expecting just...a copy of the file itself? And, why is there an empty folder each time? Second thing, the only option I'm given in selecting the created icon in the Staus window when I select the icon on any given date is... "Restore". Questions: is the thinking there that...there are no fileS to "Explore", as it is just a single file? So, my only given option is restore alone? And, with the four or five files in the folder that HAS data...somehow Veritas is going to stich these back together to make my PST should I ever need to restore the file? And, if yes...really? Can that work? Somehow doing the Incremental daily backup of the whole system and having the explore option seems more viable? Or, is it all the same under the hood? Hi everyone I'm trying to deploy backup system for my network, using old but valid license for Veritas System Recovery 16 I've installed management solution and managed to deploy test zone - it's working fine, but I used option "Once ASAP" for installing software. There is also option called "Once at next maintenance window" - and it should be much more useful, but how does in work ? I've set a policy using this option - and nothing happens, not on next client reboot, not on next windows update reboot - just nothing. My test client runs Windows 7 Pro, joined AD 2012r2 So - what does this "maintenance window" mean ?1KViews0likes1CommentStrange Email Notification Messages
Hello all, After a recent install of Veritas SR 16, my email notification messages are nothing short of cryptic.
