Backup Exec 15 - How to delete/replace System Logon Account
Hi I have a series of jobs setup in Backup Exec and some of them randomly fail with credential errors on the target server. Without any changes these jobs sometimes work fine. Event Viewer on the target machine shows authentication failures from the Default Account and Sytem Logon Account I'm guessing this is because of the Sytem Logon Account which was setup by a previous IT Support provider. I've tried amending the accounts but have had the following difficulties - I can't delete or edit the Sytem Logon Account because it is used by 'users' who no longer exist in BE/AD or won't accept the password for the owner account. I cannot edit other logon accounts because BE does not accept the password of the 'Owner' even though it is correct in AD. A Logon Account exists using an old AD account name - the AD account still exists but has been renamed. Is there a way I can completely 'blitz' these accounts in 'Logon Account Management'? I'm left with no way of editing them as they don't accept the passwords I have. Thanks Kev

Netbackup 7.7.3 see library but can't configure the drives
Windows 2008 R2 Netbackup 7.7.3Master Server Library Eternus Fujitsu LT60S2 4xUltrium-HH7(IBM) LT0 7 tapes drives I see the library in Windows, the drives. When Itry to add the library in Nebackup, that's failed.. Netbackup see the library and the drives but I can't select the drives...I should configure the drive before... HOW and WHERE? .. thanks

Slow SLP Duplication Jobs
hi , Im using SLP policies ( backup to disk -Local Disk then duplicate to tape -IBM TS), recently duplication jobs take a lot more time to complete ( around 10-12 hours for each) when i check Netbackup i can see it will find right media right away and loads it in tape drive very fast but the duplication job will hangs at "Waiting for positioning of Media ID" for about 10 hours. any help here would be apperciated. thanks! Version 13.0 is not listed here and I don't know what "2008 Not Applicable" means. I run on Server 2008 R2 and it's been working for years. I just ran into one issue that is probably not related to the OS but my understanding of Backup Exec. I backup to B2D folders, only. I have a number of jobs that work well. One of those jobs, however, that runs very infrequently just failed and I have been unable to figure out how to fix it. I tried Full and Incremental but it fails the same way really quick with the two errors shown below. The job runs with a Media Set that only has two huge files in it that are set to not be overwritten, as desired. However, they are both full and I would want a third one created so that job can run. But it complains about not having enough media. I thought if there wasn't overwritable media available, it would create a new one but that's not happening. How do I create a new one? SAN Transport on VMware VSAN
Hi, We recently deployed a new VM infrastructure using Vmware VSAN 6.0 It's running in 10G network and the netbackup 5230 appliance is using the same network for backup. Currently backups are running over LAN method which has some speed limitation on VMware kernel side. I would like to know if VSAN is supported for SAN Transport to maximize the backup speed. Based on the Veritas Education videos online, it is supported but I dont know how to enable it. Full backup sets missing, incremental are available
Hi, I am backing up weekly fulls and daily incementals. Under job history it shows each full backup but under backup sets the full backup is missing. We're backing up to tape and each day the tape is switched. Anyone have an ide what;s going on here? Thx, Nilz

MSDP Global Dedup ?
Good morning, After moving some clients (vmware) to another policy, my msdp size growed up by 8 TO.... I don't understand what is "global dedup"... Does anyone can explain that? Best regards

Volume pools media list
Dear Friends, We have quite a big infra to take the backups. And my jobs failed now and then with error 96, "no media in the pool". Kindly suggest any script or command, where i can get the free and full media list for each volume pool. We have almost 69 Volume pools. Thanks in Advance. netbackup 7.7, win 2008 R2 Ent.

BE 15 fp 5 backup to the private S3
I'm currently trying to test configuration with backup to our private S3 which is compatible with Amazaon S3 but unfortunately I am unable to complete it. here is the list of my actions: 1) configure cloud instance using BE MCLI according to BE MCLI *.chm help. It finishes with success. 2) Configure Cloud Storage using BE GUI. All configuration wizard steps completes with success, wizard even successfully retrieves the list of S3 buckets from the S3 service, and completes the configuration with no error. 3) At the end of configuration BE offers to restart it's services to finalize the cloud storage. 4) After the restart device is still shown as offline. There is an alert at the time of services start: Unable to connect to to the OpenStorage device. Ensure that the network is properly configured between the device and the Backup Exec server. For more information, see V-275-1017 on the Symantec Knowledge Base. However, I was unable to find any useful reference in KB to solve this particular issue. The main question is to understand what is missing from either configuration steps or S3 itself. Does anyone know how this can be debugged?
