Tape library and drives firmware upgrade
Hello Experts, Planning to upgrade Tape library and drives Firmware version. Tape library is connected to media server and used for LTR. First backup going to disk and then duplicated to tape for LTR. 1. Do we need to stop the Netbackup services on master and all media server(including appliances)? 2. or do we need to stop Netbackup services on robot control host media servers? 3. Not required to stop Netbackup services on any server? Note: Library vendor request for 1 hour down time520Views0likes2Commentsnbauditreport gives error

Hello Experts, I am reaching out regarding an issue we've encountered with nearly 2600 orphan images originated from the Pogather output. Reviewing each image individually with in the Catalog is time consuming. To streamline this process, i'm seeking your assistance in determining whether these images are still valid or if they can be safely deleted. is there a script or method available that would allow us to efficiently check whether these images are present in the catalog or if they have expired but remain on the appliances?Solved683Views0likes1Commenterror: get_string() failed, Broken pipe (32), premature end of file encountered

Hi I would like to test the recovery of a production NetBackup 10.3 Primary Server but do this 'offline' so as not to interrupt the production environment. I plan to build a new Windows VM on an isolated network to allow me to create it with the same server name and IP address as the original. I will then take a catalog backup to a basic disk storage unit onto a local drive on the production NBU server.. I'm hoping I can then copy the catalog backup files, associated .drpkg file and catalog DR file to my test VM which will give me everything I need to recover the NBU primary server - should this work? There will not be any other servers on this network (no AD, DNS, or Internet access) but I can use 'host' files If necessary. Our environment is small with just this single NBU Primary server that also acts as a media server. Once I have configured the VM with the same name and IP address, I will install the NetBackup binaries to the same location (D:\Program Files in our environment) and also select the installation in DR mode and use the .drpkg file. The nbwebsvc user is local to the server and not an AD account - so I will create this as a local account on the test server. I will also ensure the volume used by the Disk storage unit (on the production NBU server) also exists on the NBU recovery VM and that the catalog backup files are copied over to the same path and folder. Next I will, run the catalog recovery and select the DR file that will be copied locally with the catalog backup files. Question - Do I first need to create the disk storage unit manually and also run an 'Import' on the catalog backup files before the start the catalog recovery process? Or will it simply work if I just make sure the backup image files exist in the same path as detailed within the DR file? I'm just doing this to 'practice' the process should it need to be done for real, but I just want to make sure it 'should' work using this approach so I can troubleshoot any errors. many thanks837Views0likes6CommentsAre issues with L9 worth a ticket?
Hi all: We are currently using a brand new HPE StoreEver MSL3040 with four LTO9 drives (media is also LTO9). But I'm wondering if some issues worth a ticket to speed up enhance things. For anybody, let me explain that all LTO9 tapes need an initialize process (some manufactures call it calibration others have other names) but the main point here is that NBU don't detect that cartridge without this process. Thus, when the software talks with the library; if you are lucky the library detects that tape must be initialized and proceed with the initialization thing, but there is no feedback on the NBU about it. According HPE the sfw must be aware and from my POV at least I should have a warning with the option to abort the backup or the sfw must put on hold the backup in order to sense when the initialization process end. https://support.hpe.com/hpesc/public/docDisplay?docId=c03788698en_us&docLocale=en_US&page=GUID-B75CC2A7-283B-46EB-B596-5279248AD9FB.html https://support.hpe.com/hpesc/public/docDisplay?docId=c03788698en_us&page=GUID-EA30006A-2361-4CBC-ADA7-FB953920E6CD.html AFAIK, the netbackup documentation doesn't mention anything about LTO9 initialization or how NBU deal with that media; and if you make a backup with tapes brand new the backup fails. Without mention, the lack of LTO9 initialization. Another issue if you make a batch (the WebUI of the HPE library permits) to initialize a bunch of new tapes using just two drives; letting two drives to workout backups. But the NBU detects all drives on AVR control (instead TLD), then isn't possible to use the library at all. As you may guest, when LTO9 is finally initialized, all works fine... that's why I'm asking your opinion about if opening tickets around these are worth it o just have to complain and wait the next version of NBU tackles the LTO9 in better way. So guy tell me your thougths. PD: Wish to all a happy and healthy new year 2024!!!Solved1.1KViews0likes3Comments1: (2009) All compatible drive paths are down but media is available .
