How generating bch for SQL restore retrieves database informations
Hi, I'm trying to make a Powershell script to automate the restore process of the SQL Server databases It's clear for me how to do it, but the only things I can't get are the SQL path informations (TO directive) and SQL logical name informations (MOVE directive) that are generated into the bch file during restore process Thanks in advance dbSolved1.2KViews0likes4CommentsUniversal Shares Use Cases
Been reading through all the admin guides and came accross Universal Shares. Wondering what the use case is? Prior to 3.2. it seems it was just a NFS/CIFS share with Deduplication enabled against it but no other direct integration witn NetBackup. From 3.2 we have Protection Points: "Starting with appliance release 3.2, the Protection Point feature supports direct integration with NetBackup. A Protection Point is a point in time copy of the data that exists in a Universal Share. Creation and management of a Protection Point is accomplished through a NetBackup policy, which defines all scheduling and retention of the Protection Point. The Protection Point uses the same "Standard" policy type that is used for UNIX/Linux systems. Once a Protection Point for the data in the Universal Share is created, that point in time copy of the Universal Share data can be managed like any other protected data in NetBackup. Protection Point data can be replicated to other NetBackup Domains or migrated to other storage types like tape or cloud, using Storage Lifecycle Policies. Each Protection Point copy is referenced to the name of the associated Universal Share." This seems useful! Is anyone using it and what use cases have you for it? Feedback would be much appreciated!:smileyvery-happy:2.6KViews1like9CommentsNetbackup script to check what all active clients do not have full backup from last 1 month

Hello, I started a duplication job of many backups that are on a DataDomain storage server, the destination is a tape library and I'm using a STU with one media server selected which is the only that have access to the tape drives However, when the job starts, for every single backup image, NetBackup do one ore more attempts to read the image using a media server that is not selected in the storage unit. e.g. Media server in the STU = media15 What I see in the job detail = "Media server: media09 -> media15" A bpimagelist of the backup image, says that media09 is not the server that has been used to do the copy whose duplicate is running master is a Windows 2012 with NBU 8.1.2 media15 is a Windows 2008 with NBU 8.1.2 media09 is a RHEL 6 with NBU 7.7.3 Is this behaviour by design? Hello all, Let me explain our situation regarding the subject above. We have this Microsoft Exchange 2016 (2 mailbox Exchange nodes). At first the Exchange server was backed up using the production IP which need to traverse thru the firewall to reach Netbackup and the backup is slow and taking time to finish. Later, we assigned dedicated IPs for backup purposes (since Exchange running on VMware, the VMware team add another VNIC) to each Exchange nodes so it will eliminate the issue of backup slowness. But our situation here, since the Exchange servers are clustered with (DAG) and in the backup policy we need to point to the cluster name (DAG), it seems like the backup still using the production IP that need to go thru firewall and still have the issue with backup slowness. The way the Exchange administrator setup their Exchange mailbox, there are 4 mailboxes that divided into 2 mailboxes for each Exchange node. Could we point the backup directly (in the backup policy) to the Exchange node to backup the email? We have ask the Veritas support but they respond it is not the correct way to backup directly to the Exchange node. It must pointing to DAG cluster name. Please advice.Solved2KViews0likes3CommentsThe strange inexistent FQDNs in the bpdbm.logs
