Hi, I'm currently doing some test fora project that the client is going touseNBU with data domain boost. We tried and sucess to backup data to DD boost through NBU, however, I can't establish the connection between NBU server and DD. Even the NBU server is visable to DD, NBU server wouldn't be able to mount the DD and see it on the device manager. Have search the NBU compatibilty matrix onhttp://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH59978but I couldn't found the compatility of NBU and DDOS. 1) Can someone share the experience of using DDBoost over FC with NBU? 2) We are suspecting this is the compatability issue betweenNBU and DDOS, would that be a case? We are currently testing on Win server 2008 R2 with NBU 7.6.1 and DDOS 5.5.0.1. Best, BrianSolved3.9KViews1like3CommentsDuplication jobs are stuck at "Waiting for positioning of media id"
We have an NetBackup 7.5.0.6 environment running on an RHEL5 Master Server and two RHEL5 Media Servers. Each server has access to all 16 LTO4 tape drives connected via two different libraries. On a regular basis I can encounter duplication jobs which seem to be stuck. All resources have been granted and a proper tape has been mounted. The file list contains the first image which should be duplicated in this batch and NetBackup claims that it's waiting for positioning the media. This can take take hours until finally the duplication process starts and then proceeds at expected speed (350 GiB/h) with multiple images in the batch. I know that positioning is not an issue as the same media and drives are used for B2T jobs which never show such behavior. Did anybody encounter something like this? Any hint where to look and what to check? Thanks Markus2.5KViews1like12CommentsNetbackup : MSDP replication between remote sites within the same domain
Hello, I'm looking for feedback about replicating data from MSDP media server on remote sites back to main site. As they are on the same domain, I guess I won't be able to use AIR. Is there something similar for intra domain replication ? Is there a way to boost finger print seeding ? (without using tapes or moving servers) Or will it be better to create a local master server and use AIR ? BTW, what is occuring if a regular duplication or AIR is failling ? Is there a resuming feature, or do we just rely on the learned deduplication info to partly recover the already duplicated info ? Last be not least, I'm using resilient connection (works really nice with file backups). Is it possible to strip the stream to multiple streams ? I've got huge latency, and tcp is shapped. Thanks for your feedback,Solved2.1KViews1like5Commentsstatus code 37: advanced disk backup failed,Operation requested by an invalid server
Hi , I installed a media server to backup oracle database. Nbu version is 7.5.0.6. OS is AIX 6.1. I have tested tapebased backup, successed. When I trying to use advanced disk based backup, status code 37 occured:Operation requested by an invalid server. bp.conf file is correct. It seems that media server is configured correct, but something wrong with storage server or disk pool. But I didn't get any error when I create storage server, disk pool and STU. PLZ help me solve this problem. THX! Ian954Views1like1CommentIt is safe enable NTFS compression for a STU (NBU 6.0 MP7)
Hi all: One client have problems with the SL-500. So we are in process to enable STU using NBU 6.0 MP7 on windows Media server. The problems is that they just have 1.5TB for the STU and I was wondering if can be safe enable NTFS compression (to gain some space and don't impact the client) (maybe also change block size) to squeze more data while the SL-500 becomes on-line again. We can choose over windows2003 (32/64bits) or windows 2008 (32/64bits). So is help about his is really appreciate. Thanks a lot. \PD: the actual media server is a windows 2003 but we can migrate if the performance or the advice about NTFS compression need it.Solved734Views1like2CommentsAccelerator Forced Rescan Scheduling
Working on configuring a policy in Netbackup 7.5.0.6 using accelerator. Trying to create the policy with three schedules, a full accelerator, a full accelerator with forced rescan and diff-incrementals. Ideally, we would like to have the Full Accelerator backups run weekly, the incrementals daily and the full /w forced rescan to run every 6 months. The question is when the forced rescan schedule runs, how can I prevent the regular full accelerator schedule from also running? Thanks!Solved1.6KViews1like3Commentsbackup & restore performance
how to improve backup and restore performance(For example I am running a backup or restore operation it is taking 10 hours (consider ) then I need it to finish it within 5 hours or below mean as early as possible is it possible or not if possible means how Give me an example )Solved952Views1like3CommentsExchange Restore - networking problem
All, Does anyone know how to get round this problem; I am trying to get Exchange granular restore working, but have come up against a networking problem. I have a Unix media server that is connected to two networks, operation and management (ops, man) : Media01.man.net.com Media01.ops.net.com The Media server’s main I/P puts it in the man network. My Exchange server is in the ops network. Exchange01.ops.net.com Now my problem is that when I create disk storage server and associated, storage pool it always has the owner Media01.man.net.com and when I try to do a granular restore, netback tries to get the exchange server to do a NFS connection to Media01.man.net.com (blocked by a fire wall), instead of Media01.ops.net.com . I have tried setting up a media server alias and creating the disk storage server using the “ops” name, but it just reverts to the “man” name. I could add a hosts entry to override the DNS, but I don’t really want to go down that route. David523Views1like2Comments
