Storage options for OS upgrade
Hello, we have a NetBackup 10.4 server that we need to upgrade the OS from rhel 7 to rhel 9. Currently the MSDP is on the same disk that the OS will target (/dev/sda) so I need to copy/relocate the backup images during the upgrade. I opened a case with support and they suggested mounting SAN storage. Is this the only option to duplicate the backup data, or can we use DAS/NFS for setting up a new AdvDisk? This particular host has no other drives in it to relocate the data to, so it will need to be off the host during upgrade. Hello community, we have selected two AdvancedDiskPools to be used in one of our storage unit groups. We noticed that they are not equally split in terms of usage, although we selected "Round Robin" in the settings. As you can see, they are not used in an alternating order. The ADPs are running on an Windows Media Server (2008 R2), Master server is using Solaris. Any idea on how to solve this issue?607Views0likes2CommentsWhen to used Advanced Disk?
From an academic standpoint, when does it make sense to use Advanced Disk over MSDP? The scenarios I've seen from reading are: 1. Data that is about to get dumped to tape 2. Data that is being kept for a very short life span 3. Data that changes wildly from day to day and does not dedup well Any others? For #3, how much change does there need to be to make it worth it? The non academic part of this question is I'm using two appliances, one intended for a DR role and am looking at utilizing AIR replication between the two sites. However it appears that Advanced disk is not supported by AIR. I'm entertaining the idea of converting ALL of my storage over to MSDP, so can anyone tell me why that's a bad idea?937Views0likes2Comments
