Master and SAN Media servers -NetBackup 7.0 Master - Windows Media servers - RedHat Linux (SAN Media Servers) I have a RAC of 4 nodes . All the nodes are SAN Media servers . I dont have any cluster software like VCS or RedHat Cluster . Now i need to configure the backups such a way that all the nodes should send the backup to same Storage Unit . Is it possible to create a app cluster for NetBackup Media server without any clustering software . If we dont have cluster how do we configure the backups such a way that even one node of the RAC is down , the backup should happen on another node without any manual intervention ? Hi Guru's Recently had issue with an oracle backup, Sorry if the information given is insufficient but will try my best. As per what the structure is currently (Provided with the backup selection list in bracket): 1st DB Backup Runs (/usr/local/nb/scripts/oracle_rman_hot.uaedb1) 2nd RMAN Logs (Backup selection list is empty) 3rd DB Files ( / ) 4th OS Files ( / ) ========================= When a Oracle backup is triggered, the others gets triggered automaticly until it completes. And all these are in a different policy: e.g 1.DB Backup = (DB_ORA_UAE) 2.RMAN Logs = (UAE_RMAN_LOGS_DW) 3.DB Files = (DB_Files) 4.OS Files = (FS_UAE_UNIX_1) ========================== My concern is, how to make the rman log, db files and os files jobs to run automated upon triggering the DB backup? is it by script? On another note, DBA team informed me that all the backups in order, but i cant seem to see that in netbackup. Thank You Guru's1.1KViews2likes5CommentsOracle backup scheduled job is not starting
Hello! I have a problem with a scheduled Oracle backup that doesn't start. With the same client we run other backups (Standard policy + other Oracle instances) but we have the problem only with a particular policy. I run the command: /usr/openv/netbackup/bin/vxlogview -o 116 -t 3:00:00 And I found this error: 08/03/12 10:40:31.624 [Error] V-116-258 could not get last backup data for policy pol-vi1.eoe.ora.renetta.thoray48, client renetta.unix.t-systems.it, job(s) will not be run Every time I try to run the policy I get this error, also with "manual backup". I try to: - upgrade to 7.1.0.4 (master server + media server + client) - make a new policy but it didn't work. Actually I run the backup script directly from the client with a crontab. Please help me!!! Thank you very much SimoneSolved3.2KViews2likes13CommentsMedia selection for SAP, Oracle (or possibly just window related?)
Netb 6.5.4,Solaris with SAP and ORA agents. Problem: for scheduled backups, there appear to be some issues related to media selection or 'why did my job stop'. Let me explain. With SAP backups I see this: policy starts, single stream, picks a tape, brbackup writes to it (SAP with Oracle btw). Then the backup enters a second phase, ie a separate job is spawned. This is to do the redo phase,ie we run brarchive. It drops the first tape and selects another ,writes to it.This repeats for the remaining phases of the job, so theres 2 tapes written alternately. Each spends (wastes?) time dismounting and remounting a new tape,A,B,A,B,A. Not knowing SAP for I'm not a SAP admin, is theres a good reason for doing this ie not putting all the data on a single media? I ask since on an unloaded system its not that important but when on a heavily used system this causes an issue: some other job jumps in and grabs the drive...backups that should take no time to complete to do arch redos or utl files (backup runs 5 phases,5 changes of media) are stretched out over hours. Similarly wth Oracle...the tpl runs, I write out the bulk of my data and then the next phase runs (archivelogs) and it needs a different media.Something else jumps in as if the job hasnt started and my Ora backup hangs around. This gets worse..the next phase (when there is a drive free) is then regarded as being out of the window of opportunity...its done the bulk data and now its been canned because the window has closed. Surely it would make sense to say if the initial job started in the window then all other spawned jobs are therefore deemed to have started within the window? Is there a way to do this? Simlarly if the job has begun then tape drive alloc should be reserved for that job if the job or subjob is still running? Thanks in advance,jim.289Views2likes1CommentOracle Intelligent Policy - logs
Hi, I've got a question about Oracle Intelligent Policy. This new feature of NBU looks nice but I'm not an expert in NBU area and I was not able to find two things in Oracle Intelligent Policy. Is there any log fileson the media server side from running Oracle Intelligent Policy? Can Oracle administrator run some command/script from media server side to run manual execute of Oracle Intelligent Policy? Hi, First we are using Netbackup Enterprise 7.6.0.1 on Windows 2008 R2. We are backing up several different versions of Oracle databases 9, 10 and 11 using RMAN directed backups. The backups create a large amount of Activity Monitor entries per database. I am wondering is there any way to consolidate these? I am aware of the filtering, but that sort of defeats my purpose, as I would like to see the entries when there's anissue, but the amount of entries is too large and prevents me from easily viewing other jobs without re-creating the filter every time I enter Netbackup. Has anyone else run into this?Solved801Views1like5CommentsOracle backup failed with 6,rman error:ORA-19513,ORA-27206
