ERR - Cannot write to STDOUT. Errno = 110: Connection timed out
Hi, I have some server didn't complete the backup and I receive ''socket write failed (24)''. If I look inside the log I have this information: ''ERR - Cannot write to STDOUT. Errno = 110: Connection timed out'' The connexion are good between client server and master. The full Backup are good but not the Differential Incremental Backup. My client server is Linux Redhat 2.6.18 and my master is SunOS(5.10) version 7.5.0.6 What do you think ? It's possible to put a trap for to see what happen during the backup ? Thanks,

parent job fails for database backup
Master SunOS 5.9 UNIX Master Server 6.5.6 Connected Media SunOS 5.10 UNIX Media Server 6.5.6 Connected I know the NBU version is not supported but to let you all know that we are already in discussion with Veritas and couple of other Backup Softwares like CommVault, etc. NetBackup is our prefered one since many years but this time management is having word with couple of other options as well. Okay ... regarding the issue we have. It would be great if someone could assist. We're having issue with database backups and the parent job fails with '40, network connection broken' and rest of all child jobs completes without any issue. Sometimes the archive fails as well but with status code 6. The actual problem is with database backup. I have done some troubelshooting that is required in such issues but it still persists. Let me know what you guys need.

Migration of clients from Solaris master server to new linux master server with backup images
Hi Team, I have an activity to perform for my client and need your suggestions. The activity is: Existing setup: Master - solaris 11 [standalone, means non-clustered], NB Version- 7.7 Another site: Master: Linx 6 [VCS clustered], NB Version - 7.7 I have to migrate certain clients from Existing setup to another site, i.e. move clients which are currently being backed up by Solaris master server, to new master server i.e. Linux - We want to move the old backups as well -The old backups includes, windows, linux, solaris clients with Vmware, Oracle, MS-SQL, Filesystem backups Here is my plan: 1) Isolate the clients and policy list 2) Determine all backup images with backup and expiry date 3) Determine the list of medias used in the backups of all these clients 4) Move the tapes to new tape library and placed them in SAFE volume pool 5) Run phase 1 on all these tapes and run phase 2 import for images determined in Step 2 6) Run bpimagelist -recalculate against all these images with the date as expiry date we find in Step 2 7) Modify the bp.conf or registry for SERVER entries and populate the new servers 8) Modify the scripts for oracle & SQL DB backups 9) RUn some test restores to test if everything is ok 10) Disable the policies in Solaris master server My concerns are with the DB backups and vmware backups. With the phase 1 and phase 2 imports are enough for DB backups? Because, I beleive RMAN also keeps the information about backup media server or backup server, which will change now. Any extra steps required? Thanks for your assistance and time.

Oracle restore, 2 different netbackup domains with A.I.R
Hi, we have 2 different Netbackup domains PROD and UAT. Oracle backups are taken on PROD site then replicated over to UAT site with Netbackup AIR. DBA wants to restore PROD data on UAT site. Best way to pass RMAN send command via a config file
Hi, I'd like to know the best way to read the RMAN SEND command that is in a config file instead of hardcoding into scripts. woulda similar setup like below work with netbackup? allocate channel t1type 'sbt_tape' parms 'ENV=(NETBACKUP_CONF=/home/oracle/netbackup/nb.conf)' maxpiecesize 10G; Here is the rman section that is being run connect target /; show all; run {allocate channel t1 type 'sbt_tape' parms 'ENV=(NETBACKUP_CONF=/home/oracle/netbackup/nb.conf)' maxpiecesize 10G; backup current controlfile; } contents of nb.conf file are: SEND 'NB_ORA_SERV=media_server, NB_ORA_CLIENT=my_client,NB_ORA_POLICY=ORACLE, NB_ORA_PC_STREAMS=4';

RMAN restore failing with ORA-27191: sbtinfo2 returned error
Hello, The DBAs are doing an RMAN restore which was taken on server 1 seprdu05. They are trying to restore on server 2 seppuu03. Both clients are Solaris 10 machines with oracle database 11.2.0. The master server is RHEL 5.9. The netbackup master server version is 7.5.0.7 The netbackup client version is 7.5.0.4 The error is as below: Oracle instance shut down RMAN-00571: =========================================================== RMAN-00569: =============== ERROR MESSAGE STACK FOLLOWS =============== RMAN-00571: =========================================================== RMAN-03002: failure of Duplicate Db command at 08/16/2015 06:57:26 RMAN-05501: aborting duplication of target database RMAN-03015: error occurred in stored script Memory Script ORA-27191: sbtinfo2 returned error Additional information: 3480 On the client, nothing is reported in the netbackup logs: /usr/openv/netbackup/logs/user_ops/dbext/logs/ It seems that the error "Additional information: 3480" would come from the MML (Media Manager Layer). Is there any logs on the master server that could give more details wether the RMAN job has interacted with netbackup so far? Any sugestion would be very helpful.
