Duplication of Backup sets to be scheduled
Hello all, I am trying to find a way in BE 2014, how to schedule duplication of backup sets. I am duplicatingone server (backup set)this way:https://www.veritas.com/support/en_US/article.HOWTO98918 I have about 10 servers and I need to create monthly backup, which should consists of last full backup setof all servers backuped to Virtual disk (a link above is working only under 1 server). Only one possible solution how to backup month tapes is duplication backup sets for me. I do not want to do it manually each month, is it somewhere possible to create automatically? Hello, I do have a difficulty backing up the Oracle Instance. It was working fine for more than a month, but it started to fail a few weeks back. We are using Symantec Backup Exec Applicance - Symantec Backup Exec 2014 on Windows 2008 R2 server. All credentials tested and OK. I went through the recommened Oracle Agent setup on Windows server, but I am still getting the following error message: Unfortunatelly no RMAN log attached to the backup job log. About shrinking the catalogs
Hi all, For my 3600 appliance, I've been backing up the catalogs (D:\BackupExec\Catalogs) regularly by burning the whole folder into a DVD. For a pretty long while since use, it's been good and remained at around 3.5 GB. However, in the last month, it's grown substantially and reached 4.9GB now. Any reason why it has expanded so much?Is there a way to shrink it so that I can burn it into a single disc successfully? Hello, Our appliance is on 2012 R2 (pretty old). As R4 is out recently, I'd like to know ifthere is any dependency concerning the upgrade, e.g. R2 -> R3 -> R4, or R2 -> R4? Seamlessly as well? Also, anyone could kindly point me to the official upgrade procedure? Hi all, We all know BE can receive Windows security update via the web UI. Now I have found discrepancy in the "installed updates" tab between the CAS and media server. The media server just has more Windows updates (KBxxxxxx) than the CAS. As they both have auto-check every Sunday, I don't know why this is happening. After the Patch Tuesday this month, the CAS did show it downloaded 9 updates in the last download session log. Then I scheduled to run the installation a couple of days ago, this morning when I checked it, no new updates were installed in the CAS! Is this normal? Thanks.456Views0likes3Comments
Duplicate to tape "Rule Blocked"
I setup my 3600 to backup a server full / Incrim for a few months just to dedupe locally now a tape is being required so I installed a quantum ulta 5 half height tape library. (no updates available on the 3600 I am on 2012 SP4 with all the latest hotfix's) Ensured it is on the latest FW, did a full diagnostic via quantums propriertery software, ensured the hba was also on its latest firmware/driver ( I did this after when troubleshooting). Connected the tape drive and installed it via adding a tape drive in storage and used the symantec drivers. I then proceeded to modify the rule for the server I am backing up to dupelicate to tape and with all backups selected, then with most recent full backup to which I got a running job then back to scheduled with nothing else I tried a one off backup job and it worked.... I then created a new job with the same settings and deleted the old job I now get a rule blocked. I then proceeded to disable/hold every other job and clean out every old job, recoverys etc.... and tried it again still rule blocked I then changed the full backup to yearly removed inc and the tape to yearly and set it 6 months apart still rule blocked. to note I am trying to backup lotus DB only not exchange and I only have 2GB lleft on dedupe/disks I am at my 500gb reserve, so no new disk backups can occur I have also disabled all error handling rules and enabled logging to the maximum and couldnt see anything to which it was referring to ? any ideas as I am going out of my mind on thisSolved1.3KViews1like4CommentsBackup Exec 15 possible on 3600 Appliance?

Hey guys, I am having an interesting problem with one of my backups that has beenquite frustrating lately. Just to give you a rundown of our setup: I have a Backup Exec 3600 Appliance backingup 7 servers, including 2 Exchange Servers and a DAG setup. It is setto backup to disk (itself) and then duplicate to an HP LTO-6 tape drive. Until the past few weeks, everything has been working flawlessly. Recently, I am getting an error on the duplicate portion for one of the Exchange servers. The error is: Storage device "Tape drive 0004" reported an error on a request to read data from media. Error reported: Incorrect function. V-79-57344-3403014.0.1798.1364eng-ntfs-setcopyV-79-57344-34030ENRetailWindows_V-6.1.7601_SP-1.0_PL-0x2_SU-0x110_PT-0x3 - An invalid command was sent to the storage device. The storage device may no longer be accessible to the operating system. Review the event logs for more information. All other servers are backing up and duplicating fine. This particular server always has a successful backup but constantly fails on the duplicate with this error. I have tried multiple things, from switching up the order that the servers backup, to completely redoing the jobs. The tape drive is fairly new and works flawlessly with all the other servers backing up to it, so I don't think it is to blame. Any ideas?713Views0likes3Comments
Access Denied using Admin Console post R3 Upgrade - unable to enable RDP as well
We just upgraded one of our two 3600 appliances to R3 and when we launch the Backup Exec Administration Console from the Web GUI we get"Access Denied" the same as if we tried to RDP directly to the appliance. Using powershell to enable remote desktop for troubleshooting no longer works either. We have a case open but have not had a call back yet and we are unable to run backups so this is kind of critical. Any ideas?947Views0likes3Comments
