How to backup Backup Exec itself, and how to restore it ?
Hi - Im using Backup Exec 2010. In case of a total disaster, how do wemakes a backup of Backup Exec 2010 software itself, with all jobs, history etc? I m thinking of a scenario where my backup exec computer is lost and I need to reinstall Backup Exec and get all backup jobs/history back again? Please advice. Kind r Bjørn.

Catalogue Operation has failed
Hi All I've spent a few hours searching and trying different methods online to try and get our Tape Cataloge process to work. We have some LTO5 Tapes that were used to backup information in Backup Exec 2010. Since these tapes were used we have upgraded to Backup Exec 2012 (service Pack 4). At first I though tthe catalogue process was failing because of this, but further investigation I can see that it is failing on tapes that have only been used in Backup Exec 2012 When trying to cataloge the tapes after an inventory the job is failing and is producing these error messages: Job ended: 04 June 2014 at 20:23:52 Completed status: Failed Final error: 0xe00084b7 - A backup set was created which contains no data. See the job log for details. Final error category: Job Errors For additional information regarding this error refer to link V-79-57344-33975# Catalog- sanapp2.progressrail.com\WHATSUP Null backupset. Possible reason: Cataloging SW Compressed ArcServe Tape. Backupexec does not support this operation In regards to the above message, we are using Compresson on Hardware using our Dell Powervault TL4000 drive. I have tried following this support article but it makes no difference:http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH142684 I dont have much hair but the little I do have, im slowly starting to pull out. BackupExec 2010 dropping tape drive offline
Hi, This is a new topic to re-open the issue discussed here: https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/forums/tape-drive-goes-offline-second-backup Just to recap on the issue itself: Running BE2010 Trial on Windows Server 2008 R2 x64. Hardware is Dell R710 rack server, connected to a HP Ultrium 1760 LTO4 SAS drive via a Dell PERC 6/E SAS Adaptor card. This is what’s happening: Setup and run a backup job with full verify. I’ve tested up to a 250GB job and it completes fine the first time around. After completion of first job, rerun the same backup job (after tweaking the media overwrite/append etc settings) The job immediately fails, reporting the drive as offline – cannot bring drive back online using BackupExec administrator Close BackupExec administrator, restart BackupExec Device/Media service (which also restarts associated service dependencies). Re-open BackupExec administrator - drive appears to be online again, ready for another job to be kicked off. I’ve completely replaced: Numerous LTO tapes The Dell SAS adaptor that connects the Dell server to the HP rack chassis The HP Rack chassis that houses the 1U internal HP LTO4 Ultrium 1760 SAS drive, SAS adaptor board and all The internal HP LTO Ultrium 1760 drive itself We’ve verified that all above component drivers and firmware are fully up to date. This problem occurs with both Symantec Tape Drive drivers and HP's official LTO4 tape drivers, To me, the following facts suggest that the problem lies with BackupExec itself: After the drive goes offline, a simple restart of the BackupExec services seems to bring it back online again If the drive goes offline, and I stop the BackupExec Device/Media service, I can still access the drive using HP LTT utility, and HP Data Protector Express – only BackupExec detects the drive as offline. We’ve replaced all possible hardware components and the problem still remains This problem only ever occurs with BE, I'm testing with HP Data Proctector Express and MS's Data Protection Manager - all work fine. Luckily, I haven't bought a license for BackupExec yet, however this means I doubt Symantec Support will be willing to spend too much time on it, so I might be forced to go with MS's Data Protection Manager instead if I can't get a resolution soon. Has anyone seen/resolved this issue before? Alistair

Symantec Backup Exec 15 Failing
I'm getting this error most of the time but sometimes, the same backup job is successful also even without doing anything. Running on Windows 2012 R2 V-79-57344-34108 - An unexpected error occurred when cleaning up snapshot volumes. Confirm that all snapped volumes are correctly resynchronized with the original volumes.

staff Please help me wanted simulates a fatal error in the backup server exec 2012 we possess, which can not be ultilizado the root cause of this problem was a failure records in storage, which contains the backup and virtual machines, all stop, just I got tape device lto 4, and tape backup of all server, I'll redo it again first wanted back the exec backup server using backup and trough the iso image of the disaster "SDR" against retrieval system, ai then restore all the server. how do I do? Pessoal, me ajudem por favor queria simula um erro fatal no servidor do backup exec 2012 que possuimos, no qual não pode ser ultilizado a causa raiz desse problema foi uma falha grava no storage, que contem os backup e maquinas virtuais, tudo paro, tenho apenas o dispositivo de fita lto 4,e fitacom o backup de todos os server, vou refazer tudo novamente mais primeiro queria volta o servidor do backup exec usando backup e atravez da imagem iso do sistema de recuperação contra desastre, ai depois restaurar todos os server. como faço? Error e00084ca with LTO3 tape
Dear Support, i'm trying to restore data from LTO3 in BE2010. the invontory completed 100% but when i try the catalog i had errore00084ca"The data being read from the media is inconsistent" . can you please help me. it's very urgent request as i lost all data in our server. Regards.

Hello I can't backup only this Vm with Backup Exec 2014 since a very long time. They are no snapshot existed in snapshot Manager. When i select manually only one VM using snapshot technology .. Could you help me ? it says always .. And after the message appears.... ANd, Why it talk about restore ? I giev a backup not arestore.
