How do I delete IMG folders and contents?
It appears that the creation of an infinite number (up to the point of "drive full") of IMG folders (when using B2D to back up Exchange Server) is a known issue. Unfortunately, I have learned this only after creating 23 IMG folders of approximately 11 GB each. I cannot find a method within Backup Exec for deleting these IMG folders and when I attempt a manual deletion using Windows Explorer I get the error message "Error Deleting File or Folder - cannot delete ese.dll: Access is denied." I must get rid of these blankety-blank things before I run out of disk space. Based on the number of related posts I'm guessing somebody must've figured out an answer to this problem. I just can't seem to find it posted here. Thanks in advance.3.6KViews0likes16CommentsLTO5 tape is showing incorrect capacity
Hi There, I'm new to this forum, I use Backup Exec 2010 with an IBM LTO5 tape drive and we have three tapes that are showing a capacity of 35.4gb. If I try to use them it does indeed become full after 35.4gb. I've tried a full erase and everything I can think of and they're stuck at this capacity. I know it's only 3 tapes, not the end of the world... But I'm really curious as to what has happened to them. They weren't new, I think they came with the drive and had been opened. Any insight greatly appreciated!991Views0likes6CommentsReconfiguring Tape Library Partitions
I recently took over admin duties at a company running Backup Exec 2010 using a Dell TL4000 tape library with two drives and 44 tape slots. The previous admin is gone but left the TL4000 partitioned with 5 partitions. The first two each have one slot, the next two have three each and the remaining slots (9 through 44) are in the last partition. I need to change this configuration but I'm wondering what effect the changes would have on existing jobs that use the current configuration...will they update automatically? I don't want to make any precipitous changes that could cause problems. Any help would be greatly appreciated.Solved1.5KViews0likes7CommentsBackup exec remote agent service stuck in stopping state.
I have face the below issue many times. Operating systame - Windows 2008 or Windows 2008 R2. Backup Exec 2012 having SP 3 installed. Most of the time when we restart the backup exec services, that time "Backup exec remote agent service" get stuck in stopping state. And in this stage we fail to stop and then start the service. Even taskkill command also desen't work to kill the beremote.exe process. And in this situation every time we require to reboot the server and then we found all backup exec services in running state properly. Does any one have solution on this? Same Job, Same Configuration, Same Media and Same load on the server and the network bandwidth. BUT the time to finish a 44 GB backup can vary anything between 7 to 14 hours on different days. The change to data is less than 1 GB if anything. Assuming this is anything to do with the network- Does the backup speed remains constant at the speed it started at during a job ? (i.e if the network becomes quiet after an hour does it not pick up that speed) Assuming this is anything to do with hardware load on the server- Shouldn’t it pickup up speed when the system is quiet? On this particular server the job start at 1800 hrs when there is no load on this machine (its the ERP system & SQL db and everyone's gone home by then) I cannot seem to identify a reason that can justify a 100% increase in time it takes to finish an identical job. What else can cause this behaviour ? Has anyone else seen this? P/S For various reasons I need to do a full backup rather than an incremental one on this server. So that is not an option as a measure to save time.689Views0likes8CommentsSSR 2013 - ReFS support, when?
When is SSR 2013 Server Edition going to support volumes formatted as ReFS for full/incremental recovery points? BTW the discussion creation form doesn't include "Windows Server 2012" in the dropdown list of Operating systems, only Server 2003 and 2008 is there.481Views0likes4CommentsBackup Jobs are getting failed with V-79-57344-41488 - Due to one or more errors in \\server\E:, this backup cannot be used for conversion to virtual machines, Simplified Disaster Recovery (SDR), or a complete online restore.
Hello All, We are using Backup Exec 2014 SP2 In a Windows 2012 R2 server as a media server and taking backups of the Clients through Remote agent. Few are windows 2008 server and one of them is Windows 2012 R2 server. The issue started with the Win2012 R2 remote agent while backing up the backup is getting failed for the drives with the above mentioned error. The files are normal flat files. Media Server : Windows 2012 R2 64 bit Remote Agent : Windows 2012 R2 64 bit I have tried to take backup of those problematic folder through WIndows server backup however it got successful in that case. The account which we are using for taking backup is domain user however its been added to remote agents local admin too.But no luck. Would appreciate if any wrokariound or solution can be provided except asking for upgrade it to BE 15 ;) .Solved18KViews0likes10CommentsCatalogue jobs failed - data inconsistent on each tape?? V-79-57344-33994
Hello, i haveto restore an old backup (created with backup exec 10 i guess). For this restore i use Backup Exec 2010 R3 on Server 2008 R2. There are no entries for this backup in the catalog. So i loaded all tapes for this backup (20x LTO4 containing one backup) in my 24-Slot loader and inventorized them. After that i created catalogue jobs for each tape, starting with the first one. After 2 hours and about 800gb data the job on tape 1 failed with the error (translated): V-79-57344-33994 - Data read from media is not consistent. All other tapes failed with the same error. I can browse the data of the first tape and restore some of the items (others have a red cross). All other tapes are not in the catalogue, so i cant browse them. What i tried: * cleaning drive * checking statistic data for all tapes (0 errors) * Under BE Options > catalogue > disabled request all media in a row (translated) * enabled debugging May the first tape be broken? Is there a possibility to check the contents of all other tapes? I'm doing something wrong? Hello, I have a strage occurence at a customers site. When I install the remote agent on 2 servers and start a backup I immediatly get the E00084CA Error. When I disable the agent and do a network share backup all is ok. It is not the tape nor the tape unit.. Local backups are OK, only remote backups with the agent on these 2 servers are not ok. we have tried another server with the agent and it went OK too... What can be the problem, If I do a test run all seems ok. Best regards Jakob-Jan v/d Laan Senior Network Specialist Bol Networks405Views0likes2Comments
